Thousands watch Tiger practice

The size of the gallery Tuesday at Kingston Heath was nothing new for Tiger Woods, who also played before some 7,000 people two days ago in China. More...

Mickelson takes HSBC Champions lead
Published (2009-11-08 08:41:00)
Phil won, but I can't recall seeing so many self-destructive swings on the last hole of a tournament. Ernie had the lead, and splashed it in the water. Phil was then tied, used a 3 wood off the tee for safety and quickly put it in the deep rough. He finally got to the hole in three and made a good two putts for his victory. Tiger, on the other hand, self-destructed in the beginning and in the end. Strange. Very strange. Quote: Originally...

I watched the final round on the Golf Channel and I couldn't believe all the craziness going on on the 16th hole with the woods/mickelson/watney group. Then in the middle of the debauchery they show Ernie dunk it in the water. I have never seen so many top level players make these types of terrible shots in such a short period of time. Might be the result of a tough golf course. Good for Lefty after the kind of year he has had.

My wife was staying at a house on the MidOcean golf course during the Grand Slam of Golf in Bermuda. She talked to the TNT camera guys who had set up a camera tower in the yard of the house. They gave her the scoop about all the players - they see them and work with them every week. According to them Phil is a Jerk and what you see on TV (all the smiles and grins etc) is an act. Having said that, in general they said most of the US players are...
