One way to look at it is liquidity. The closer the spread, the more liquid the item is. Liquidity is a bit of a different concept than volume.

well apmex is buying them for $35 over spot, which I believe has increased by $10. IIRC, used to be $25 over. Their spread is only $36 total, which isn't too bad.

Total Duh.... I just got done weighting stuff... weighed an SAE 31.4g weighed another,,,31.5g weighed a couple rounds both 31.5g a nickel weighs 5g on this scale Then I Reread the OP. Man you guys must have thought / do think I was/am an Idiot. It was a Typo!!! My stash (all of witch I overpaid for and am sitting on a loss).
Gold
1/3 1 ounce coins, 1/3 1 ounce bars, 1/3 all of the smaller European Gold coins Helvetia/Sovereigns etc.
Silver
1/3 ten ounce bars, 1/3 SAE'S/Maples, 1/3 just a whole bunch of rounds/Morgans/Libertads/Phils/etc. Then all kinds of different stuff after that, a real mess, not even worth going through.

Good information. BTW, the old notion of firing up the presses is only a cliche.
What happened in pre-Nazi Germany isn't going to happen here. We won't be using 1,000 dollar bills for heat. Money is now 'created' via computer entries from the Fed. IOW, they type $1,000,000,000 in an entry and transfer it over to Mammoth Bank of NY.
THAT is much more scary than printing presses imo. It ...

First off, I admit it. I missed the gold boat. I got into this thing back in July and ordered a bunch of silver but little gold. Silver has done well (bought at 13.90 spot (actual $15.00 shipped) and now its closing in on 19.00.
But my gold 'stash' consists of a 1/3 ounce Suisse pamp and a 1/10 Krugerrand. Impressive huh? I just didn't know what to make of this gold thing and I was just ...

The fund announced on November 16 the sale of two tonnes of gold to Mauritius for 71.7 million dollars.
Pardon me but Geography was never my strong suit but where the hell is Mauritius??
You know its getting bad when countries you never heard of are stepping up to the plate to get their paws on Gold.
