What about items such as pre-33 gold and sovereigns? In any case if you worry about reporting for kilo gold transactions, that sounds like a pleasant problem :)

I buy brands that I like and that are good on resale. Mostly bars. Helps to have Dupes so that you don't mind selling... If you have one of each type sometimes emotions get in the way of sale and we can't have that, now can we.

There are rules which apply only to bullion and only when you sell. They have nothing to do with your purchases, and do not apply to rare coins. Kilo bars are 32.15 troy ounces of gold and are subject to reporting. We are also required to report any gold bar sale totalling 32.15 ounces are more. Concerning 1 troy oz. gold coin transactions: If you sell 25 coins or more of the Krugerrand, Maple Leaf or Mexican Gold Onza we are required to...

Yes they are pretty pricey for their silver content, but price seems pretty
normal for the perth mint coloured/series coins, 1oz usually around $100,
1/2oz $50.

My new years tip fwiw.
Due to budget constraints I've been reduced to smaller purchases lately. I've been focusing on 06-07 $5 w GAEs ms69, ungraded and some ICG SP70s which can still be had for less than Apmex's price on 09 $5 bullion GAEs. These 06-07 burnished Ws even in ms69 have nice potential imo because they have the w, are fairly low mintage and no longer available, probably forever....

As a Canadian, I am glad they got caught in New Jersey. In Canada we just catch and release, they will do serious time in the states.
