I just recently bought a sig 522
Published (2009-12-24 19:06:00)
Sig did "rip us off" with the no sights deal, when they 1st announced the 522 it was supposed to come with a red dot and a rear sight. I have ordered some clone BUIS and intend to modify the front "gas block" for the front sight to work. I will post pics when my products arrive from over seas.

The current production 10/22s come with a base that accepts either Weaver or 3/8" .22 rings. It should work just fine as it is quite similar to the TO9 base, and Weaver-style rings offer all the holding power you need on a .22

Youve got to push it in all the way. What I do is push from the breech out the muzzle. Remove brush from pushrod. Repeat.

Hogue stock for Ruger 10/22
Published (2009-12-22 01:48:00)
I have one set up for the factory-weight barrel, and I like it very much. It's kind of "sticky", so you get a good grip, even under less-than-ideal circumstances or conditions. The black color will heat-up if you leave it in the sun on a bright/sunny day, but here in the far North, that's a feature, not a bug. Addition of this stock didn't affect the accuracy of the gun either way; it shoots about the same size groups...

I hate you :( Mine is still on backorder since the Compliant model wasn't released by S&W yet. :( Glad to hear it runs fine. My GSG-AK47 is great though.

Wonderful Afternoon at Range
Published (2009-12-20 20:35:00)
Today I was out making visits to church members after the morning worship service. About 2:30 p.m. my oldest daughter called to say that sometime about the middle of January she will be flying in for a 7-10 day visit! We are thrilled. This is the first time she's gotten a chance to come home in 14 months. I asked her what she wanted to do. She said, "Hang out with you." How cool is that? She and her younger sister had been in...

I want one but cannot find one. What did you pay? I'm surprised you got the red dot, most of the folks who have purchased them said the red dot was not included as first indicated by SS.

What kinda probs with Crickets???? To answer your question, the Mossberg 802 Plinkster is a cool little bolt rifle. Also, I am a fan of the Marlin 925, but that is a bit longer and heavier than the Mossy. Stuck on a bolt action? If not, try finding an Ithaca Model 49, which is what my daughter has. Bolt action SINGLE SHOT. What a concept, and a great learning/teaching tool. Good ...

I think they're nice little stocks. I've always wanted to get one and a put on a Whistlepig aluminum barrel. These barrels weigh less than 18oz's. Throw on a cheap red dot and you have an ultra-lite rig. I think that would be blast.

If your purpose for the rifle is a sub-caliber trainer for your AR, then you want to get as close to the ARs "feel" and control set-up as possible. Although the 10/22 can be dropped into a stock that feels similar to an AR, the safety lever, mag release, and even the trigger will be quite a bit different. To get as close as possible, I'd recommend getting a rimfire upper, a drop-in conversion ...

it is possible to put together a 10-22 and never use one Ruger part. So you can go anyway you want to. Most people start with a stock 10-22 and go from there.

First, you could be pulling the trigger a second time without realizing it. Especialy if you are firing rapidly. Second, how hot was the chamber? Cookoff. Lastly, has anyone "adjusted" the trigger? Home gunsmiths sometimes reduce the sear engagment that can cause doubling or worse. If none of those are present, contact the maker.

There's a reason that Anschutz has more international small-bore titles than any other brand... but in your stated price range I'd opt for a Savage heavy barrel model with laminated stock and accu-trigger. I have two (both .17s) and every time I shoot them, I am again amazed at their accuracy, even in my hands.
