if you have JB Bore paste, mix up a slurry with oil, place it on the slide/frame and lap the slide. i do this to all my new guns and never had a problem.

It is still one of the best buys in a production 1911.

Ed brown will only work on their guns unless they have recently made a change to their policy which I'm not aware of. Try to get in touch with chuck rogers and see if he can sneak you in as someone suggested.

I'm a Sig kinda guy (or was) and am used to 40 ounce pistols, but Sigs pale in comparison to 1911s.

Remington Rand?

I understand, but the OP said that he was also thinking of a CQB. I would get a collectable 1911 if I wanted to just hold it, and look at it. For a shooter, I would save the money and get the CQB, or something else.

are you buying for target practice or for CCW?
Kimber makes a tighter and more accurate 1911.

You bought a AO 1911 chambered in .45, that someone fitted a 400 cor-bon barrel in.
If the gun is reliable with .45 ammo, I'd say you got a good deal.
The 400 Cor-bon was Cor-bon's answer to the 10mm, or rather it was designed to mimic the ballistics of the 10mm. You have a .45 casing that was necked down to fit a .40 caliber bullet.
If the barrel was a drop in part, it would fit ...

I don't generally play Internet Price is Right, but $1200 sounds like a lot for a 70% Rand. And 70% sounds low for a show and tell milsurp.
I'd get the CQB and go shooting.

Before I started reloading I used mostly Remington UMC or Federal AE for the range. For protection I use either Federal Hydra-Shoks or Remington Golden Sabers.

Assuming that it was a 1911A1...you've got five to choose from. There were no "Vietnam Era" pistols. The final contracts ended in 1945, and there were none delivered to the US government after that, beyond maybe a few overrun slides that Colt had'em nailed down to.
It could have been one of the following...in order of most likely to least likely
Remington Rand...Colt...Ithaca......

not sure about the second springer product codes in your OP. i assume the first one is the loaded model(?)
my local gun shop had a pointman in stock for like 6 months before they sold it. i check it out. the slide to frame fit was like a pair of scissors-very precise and smooth. trigger was a little wobbly though...
the loaded springers are great deals for the options. i would go ...

There are a lot of people that have Paras that run just fine. I wouldn't buy one myself just because I think there are better choices.
