Remington 1100...got a synthetic and a wood stock. Have killed with both. Recently picked up a Beretta 391 to give me the 3 inch option. Have yet to hunt turkeys with it though.

I own several, used to have a few others, the SBEII with steadygrip is the best shotgun I've ever turkey hunted. My Benelli M2, which is not in the pic, would be my 2nd pick.

835 barrel swap....
Published (2009-12-13 09:46:00)
I am using a .690 or .695 Gobbler Guns "Final Strut" Choke Tube and Winchester 3.5" Extended Range #6's in my Mossberg 835 with a 20 or 21" Barrel and they pattern really good at 40 yards and beyond! I haven't chrono'd these loads, but have been told that with the older powders that burned slower you would get increased velocity out of a longer barrel. With the new faster burning Powders that are being used...

1 1/4 is a real good spur lenght!!! All mature birds are trophys to me but anything above 1" to me is a real good bird. Start getting around those 1 1/2" spurs and those are the rare trophys.

I use the extra extra full choke that remington makes... dont remember the exact name but the tightest one they have. A lot of guys on here like Indian Creek and Pure Gold chokes. You can do a search in this forum and see a hundred different choke combinations. It is really a user preference. I would definetly use Hevi Shot though, it seems to be the best thing on the market next to ...

Plant it anytime from May to August probably, just gotta have 90-120 frost-free days for it to make, so plant accordingly for your area. I know of nothing better for turkeys, it is a little ridiculous how much they like it actually.

I've never hunted on Oakmulgee, but know a lot of folks who have. It would be a good choice; lots of big woods and a good turkey population. Good hunter population, too. Expect to have LOTS of competition on any WMA in AL. Avoid the weekends and go during the week if you can, but even then you'll have a hard time working a bird by yourself. I hunt the Coosa some, but only during the week ...

You're going to get the biggest bang for you buck by getting a high quality heavier-than-lead shell. I suspect you're going to get the best patterns (regardless of choke) with: Nitros 7s Nitros 4x5x7 Hevi-13 6s (2 oz.) Winchester XRHD 6s

I shoot a 935 and love it. Mine throws a nice pattern with the full choke that came with the gun and winchester supreme shells. Got a buddy who shoots a 935 as well, mostly for duck hunting, but uses a jellyhead choke with nitro shells for turkey. Nitro is a little pricey for me. But overall I love the gun. It does kick pretty good with the 3 1/2 shells. Especially with the 2 1/4 loads I like to ...
