When C.D. made a point to say this was a HOGHUNTINGFORUM, I did take the time to ask why catching hogs was on a HUNTING forum just...

Momma was 125lbs field dressed on the processors scale, I guess about 50-60 lbs of guts so shy of 185lbs whole. It was raining all night, we were going to wait for a break in the weather but we figured we ...

There are several posts on this thread that illustrate the attitude that causes so many folks have a problem with hog dog hunting. That attitude will, in my opinion, eventually lead to the death of hog dogging in Georgia.

I think guided hunts fall into 2 types, pen hunts and fair chase hunts. If you want to be sure about killing a boar then go with a pen hunt. To me it isn't hunting but lots of people do them. Expect to pay around $600. The free range hunts are cheaper but you may not come back with a hog. Prices start around $150. More if it is with dogs. They are like any other breed of dog. Some have an excellent nose and are very rank on a hog and some aren't worth two dead flies. I would get it an try it out it may be a good dog. You can always cull it if it's not.
