the rut....well just WHEN is it?
Published (2009-11-14 13:55:00)
When do you guys really think the rut is most active in your area of Georgia? Or Florida/Alabama/S. Carolina, where ever you hunt? I always believed it to be maxed about Nov 5, through 10th or so here in central to north GA. I'm in Cobb and seeing plenty of rut activity although I have so few does here it's hard to tell. One thing for sure, use of doe estrous scent IS worth while when the does are few!!!

New sight setup ?

Sword twilight hunter has a 3 stage light and comes with 5 pins....Any peep that is at least 3/16 will let more light in than a smaller one. Any wrapped or lighted sight will be best for low light...

If the corn had been cut your hunt would have been much better. Great pics and I drove by that same lodge every day going to a property on the Adams County line. Looks like you still saw some big ones even though the corn was standing! Are you hooked now?

I have used a HHA single pin slider sight and adjusting it is no problem unless you are at full draw and the deer moves significantly closer or farther away. I got rid of that to use pins sights and got a VIPER MICROTUNE with 5 pins I got them set a 10, 20, 30, 35, 40. My 40 has a nice size gap shooting heavy arrows. If you are having trouble you can get a clarifier peep and will help you alot...

This time last year our big bucks were cruising. We had some rutting the first week of Nov but been dead since Nov 6th. Bucks are still working scrapes on our land in Putnam. Looks like its going to be a tricle rut

My Trykon has the same device on its lower cam... At full draw it makes positive contact with the cable. I assume this is supposed to provide a more definite draw stop.
