Since you are running those wheels Hoosier makes the best range of DOT race tire sizes. You can run 315 in rear and 275 front. 255 works front too but Hooiser says max rim width on 275 start at 9". We T1 racers have been doing 315's on a 10" wheel which is similarly out of spec but proven to be fast and safe on track faster than running 295 proper tire up front. So give it a try. I ran 245 as the max size up front on the...

Thanks, that would help if we had the time to get the book. We unfortunately have to get this examination report completed as there are time constraints. But thank you, we may have to get one to keep for future reference.

Carb Tuning Question - Page 2 -...
Published (2009-11-24 19:37:00)
I beleive the correct procedure is to firstly ensure that your ignition timing is spot on and the carbs are in good shape otherwise (no air leaks, correct float height, no jet blockage etc) Assuming these things are right you synch the carbs first. Birdman's carb synch tutorial is really helpful here. You will need an airflow meter but they are inexpensive. I found this job kind of fun and sure enough my carbs were slightly...

First of all do yourself a favor and get that fixed pronto, if you let the chain get worn you will need to open the engine to change the chain and that will be very expensive. The noise is most obvious when its cold but if you put the car on a hoist and use a stethoscope you will hear it even when its warm.

I always do compression test cold. My thought is this is most likely to give the worst numbers as everything isn't good and lubricated. If you get great numbers you can feel good. I actually just pulled that thought from where the sun doesn't shine, but I do test them cold.

Chris,
Lie on the floor and shoot the underside of the car when up on the lift then everyone can see what obstructions there are. I'm curious too. It looks like a very nice little lift for someone short on space. I do think it's kinda funny that they refer to it as a portable lift though. Ha, if you're the incredible Hulk maybe.

check with each tire you are going to consider. They have optimum tire sizes per wheel size. Also note that often you can be faster with a proper tire for a specific wheel than oversizing a tire on a wheel. Off the top of my head I would say 11" wheel will take a 315, 8.5" wheel will take a 275.

Low temps (if real) are due to thermostat, water pump, or fans. You've ruled out the fans.

If I understand your question correctly, having the suspension rubber twist/stretch or otherwise left in an unnatural state from hanging on a two-post lift (for) extended periods of time is not something I would recommend.

I don't have a lot of knowledge of subtleties of tuning carbs, but I did have a vapor lock problem in my 308GT4 about 13yrs ago. I talked with GT Car Parts who supplied a higher output Fiat (I believe) fuel pump that solved these problems. Could some of your problems be fuel pump related? Just a thought.

Radio Shack has a couple of round pin extraction tools, for certain sized pins:

You should be able to get...
