Ok, managed to get Christmas out of the way and had a little time to try peoples recommendations out. Jaxson, thanks for the suggestions mate but when I have the freeview on through the tv and connected with optical from freeview to HT, then red, white from tv out into HT out (does not have an in, then I get sound through HT on one speaker only (have 4 and subwoofer). Trig42, will drop you a pm but I don't think you coming out is going...

Also how old is the HDD recorder seems odd that it doesnt have an HDMI output port for upscaling DVDs. If it has one, use this connection straight to the TV instead of the RCA composite cables.

Editing Flip Mino HD movies with...

You can actually edit Flip Mino movies with Windows Live Movie Maker... Open Flipshare, select the video your want to edit with Windows Live Movie Maker and click "Create Movie". Then select the newly created movie, right-click and select "Export to...". The resulting movie is WMV and you can use with Windows Live Movie Maker. If you just use "Export to..." on the original movie you will get a MP4 instead....

If the home theatre system has a dvd player then you'll be using this to watch dvd's. It if has an optical in or a dig coax in then ideally you want to use this input with the freeview box. If the freeview box is a terrestrial/HD version then the only way to get dolby 5.1 out of it is via coax/optical. So you'd want hdmi from freeview to tv PLUS optical or coax to the home theatre system. The DVD recorder can be connected to...

Wireless rear speakers?
Published (2009-12-23 07:39:00)
Actually, does anyone know of any baluns that can be used to run a set of rears? I'm guessing that RCA is a different power level to regular speakers, they might not be appropriate? --- http://blog.jason.pollock.ca

look for something not used locally or beside one that's used - lincrad has a map on their site with most of the channels on each transmitter. avoid 34-38 as ch36 is what most vcrs and dvd-rs use

Have you tried creating a larger FAT32 partition? I got a 80GB drive/partition that works on several DVD/USB players. Of course you need a 3rd party app to format a partition larger than 32GB

A few years ago friends of mine got some wireless rear speakers from Sony. They had to order them in and they required connection to a power jack on the other side of the room. Similar to these - http://www.sony.co.nz/product/waht-sbp1 - but the main stereo amp had to be compatible. website - last.fm - flickr - facebook - blog - twitter

What model Sky STB do you have? There should be two RCA terminals on the back for audio, one saying L and one saying R. One should be white and one should be red. You should simply connect the cable from these into the audio input on your home threatre system. Biddle Corp is powered by VFX trixbox Faktortel GB-PVR

Hi, A few precisions we need: - Does the HT include a DVD player or is it a receiver (seems quite odd that it has no input) - How many HDMI inputs on the TV? - Maybe giving the brand/model of the devices would help. Where do you live?

Optical cable from MySky HDi to receiver and leave your HDMI cable where it is. HDD redundant as you can't record from MySky HDi, I think that's right.

I have the Panasonic G series plasma - it is very good. I spent a fair bit of time researching to find what was for me the "sweet spot" of value / features vs. price. I haven't had cause to regret my decision. Personally, I don't like Bose - more marketing hype than true audio quality/value delivery. I use & like Yamaha av receiver/amps. Golden rule is for you to listen to the ...

The all in ones aren't terrible, not all of them anyway... go have a listen at your nearest store to hear for yourself. If sound quality and bang for buck are important a seperately chosen component system is hard to beat. As far as blu ray players go I usually reccommend the PS3 though the panasonic is considerably cheaper and will still play blu rays. An entry level amp from one of ...
