Wireless internet
Published (2009-12-03 08:00:00)
What wireless router are you using? Have you installed the latest firmware? I had this problem a couple months ago when I picked up my Macbook Air and an Airport Express. My PC's were fine, but the Macbook and AE kept losing their connection. I ended up replacing my router, which was about 5 years old, and everything has been working flawlessly ever since.

Yes that is the same model. Should I be looking at the "wireless" section in the first two links you've posted? Is the "router" part of my modem the "wireless"? Where exactly should I be looking for to find out the steps in which I can get the router to be active. Lastly, how do I get to this screen(it's in the first link you posted) http://i.dslr.net/pics/faqs/image108283.gif...

Might be me but the last time I sat in the dentist the last thing on my mind was whipping out a laptop and looking at email. I really don't think this is as good an idea as it sounds. You usually find public wi-fi points in spots where they may be useful, and I don't see a dentist's waiting room as being the place to go. Just my two pence input...

Very slow DSL download speeds?
Published (2009-12-02 01:21:00)
I did a speed test on my ISP's website, and the results were about 560kb/s download and upload. But next to those, it said the transfer rate was about 62kb/s for each. It's always been this speed, I hope this isn't normal for my service.

Hi scroc and welcome to Geeks to Go. I am not exactly sure what you are asking, but will take a stab on a few things. Your laptop should be protected with virus scanners, malware, and spyware scanners that are up to date. This would be true even from within your home. You should never click on links or open emails that are questionable. I assume you ...

Hi ImHeatherAndImAPC and welcome to Geeks to Go. To clarify a couple things. Since you got it used and you can not get recovery manager or system recovery I suspect that it was all blown away by a re-format and re-install of the operating system. The dead battery problem is most likely the battery is bad. Do you know if it is attempting to charge. ...

The easiest way is to put them all in the same workgroup, however you decide to name it, then just share the folders you want to access. Workgroup settings can be found in the control panel, in the system section. Folder sharing can be accessed by right clicking on the folder you wish to share and selecting sharing. This post has ...
