QUOTE (baron-pierreIV @ Dec 22 2009, 12:07 PM) If CapeTown bids, I do not see how the IOC can deny Africa its most viable bid in years. They turned down Rio for 2012 and gave her 2016. Cape Town was a legitimate #3 for 1997-2004, how come it would then NOT be viable sixteen years later, for 2013-2020? Africa is the ONLY hole on the IOC map now; why should they leave it unfulfilled? It doesn't make sense. I may...

The official logo, visual identity and slogan for UEFA EURO 2012™ have been unveiled at a special event in Kyiv's Mykhailivska Square with co-hosts Ukraine and Poland looking forward to 'Creating History Together'. Star guests Polish Football Association President Grzegorz Lato, his Football Federation of Ukraine counterpart Grigoriy Surkis and UEFA President Michel Platini officially unwrapped the logo as the...

I think France will get it. Besides the vote swap arrangement with Germany, France is Michel Platini's home country. I suppose that the UEFA president shall not engage himself in the host election campaign but I think that the Eastern European delegates will want to do Platini a favour -- after he and the rest of the UEFA executives finally gave the green light for Ukraine as 2012 host.

It sure would be a good test event for Brazil. But three years before the gams, and with a FIFA WC to go anyway, possibly a bit superfluous. I think Germany or Russia should get the final standalone Rugby 7s WC, with Rio getti9ng the first Olympic version anyway.

And in English: Kyiv, July 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) - UEFA President Michel Platini has not ruled out that Ukraine might be deprived of the right to stage the Euro 2012 European Football Championship. In the history of stupid, half-baked, ill-advised proposals that have been brought to public attention, this is among the very, very worst. Pathetic.

Fascinating stuff. My thoughts: I was big fan of Brawn in 09. I like Rubens, I like Jenson, I liked the independant feel to the team, I like Ross Brawn, I like an underdog, I liked the story, I liked the white car with no logos. 2010 - Mercedes Works Team, No Jenson, No Rubens, Lots sponsors, silver car, Ross still there so I will look out for Brawn and if Heidfeld gets in I like him too....
