If Pyeong Chang wins 2018, Almaty's chances plunge once again. By 2022 (if Pyeong Chang gets 2018), the Winter Games would have been away from the Alps for 16 years by then. They seem to be between a rock & a hard place.

QUOTE (Mo Rush @ Jan 4 2010, 05:26 PM) Where can one find attendance figures for the various sports played at Australia's venues? austadiums.com will be able to give you average yearly attendances per ground, total attendance across all grounds per sport, but not attendance per ground, per sport, yearly.

Anyone think Almaty will bid? Most of us were expecting them to bid for 2018, and they could've had a decent bid after correcting some errors from their 2014 application. If they do bid, would Sochi 2014 in neighboring Russia put off some IOC voters?

QUOTE (Victor Mata @ Jan 6 2010, 05:13 AM) What about the compactness (does this word exist?) of Tokyo 2016? I guess a couple of football games farmed out isn't gonna change things much.

QUOTE (Pure facts @ Jan 6 2010, 07:50 PM) Any South-African city surviving the initial technical cut (that's where the main challenge will be) and not assassinated in the EC report will have such a strong story to tell that the other candidate will have to pull out a London (best presentation ever) to hope to have a chance. Wow, you're really not mincing your words there. So you really don't think two new...

I've said in other threads, that if Los Angeles can come up with a compelling enough project (like London did) to entice the IOC for a third time, then I don't see why not. As the years go by, more of a gap is being positioned since L.A. 84. Los Angeles seems to have the determination to keep on truckin' too, despite losing previous efforts, something I think that New York & Chicago won't ...

/\ U gotta save it for another day, Freewill. Wise choice by India. Tokyo now thinks it has a chance. Definitely clears the way for Capetown, the last holdout of the no-host continents.

QUOTE (stevie @ Dec 31 2009, 06:36 PM) Melbourne is a pretty epic city. I'd say they have the best chance at bringing the games back to Oz. I would compare Melbourne to Milan. Both very progressive, trendy, well known cities with good international reputations as being interesting places to visit and live. But both live in the shadow of Sydney and Rome. While both are, arguably ...

This is the proposed logo for Palermo's bid. Of course it's not compliant with CIO rules, that say one cannot use the expression " Applicant City" before presenting it officially to the CIO itself. That was one of the rules Petrucci published.

WOG: - 2018: PyeongChang - 2022: Almaty The first one has to win for geographical rotation reasons and for being the 3rd time trying; Almaty has to go on trying coz of the great result for 2014. SOG: - 2020: Rome - 2024: Tokyo Making again happens what happened in the 60s. FIFA: - 2018: Russia - 2022: Australia Has to return to the northern emisphere after RSA and BRA. But still stay in...
