QUOTE (Citius Altius Fortius @ Dec 11 2009, 07:45 PM) maybe this question seems "profane" for people, who are very common with rugby, but is there a special reason, why the field is an oval? I mean why can't rugby played on a rectangular field? Actually, Rugby IS played on a rectangular field. It's AFL (Aussie Rules) that uses ovals, reflecting back on its development as a game for cricketers to...

I really should create a rectangular version of the MCG.

QUOTE (ard72 @ Dec 11 2009, 10:07 AM) Half-arsed bid by the FFA as I stated which is why it is doomed to failure. It's like a city bidding for the Olympics without detailing any venues If it wasn't taxpayers money funding the bid, then so be it if it fails, but with the taxpayer funding the entire bid the FFA should be held to account for their poor planning Frank Lowy should pay for the bid out of his own pocket...

QUOTE (Aronious @ Dec 11 2009, 02:03 PM) You don't have much of an idea of the process do you? oh and I want the AFL to pay back the Victoria Government any money they helped contribute to infrastructure to service the failed Waverly Park...and its coming out of Andrew Demetriou's pocket. Even if the bid fails $40m for a chance (a good one at that) at several billion in economic activity is worth the...

QUOTE (Sir Roltel @ Dec 11 2009, 12:01 PM) Actually, Rugby IS played on a rectangular field. It's AFL (Aussie Rules) that uses ovals, reflecting back on its development as a game for cricketers to keep fit over winter. lol - I am stupid - when we watched the match together in Aussie Stadium the field was/is rectangular... Mhh - therewith my question should had been why is Cricket played on an oval field? But I suppose...

QUOTE (scotguy @ Dec 5 2009, 11:55 PM) Australias was best by far, just captures the spirit of the nation, reminds me of Sydney 2000. Based on everything: 2018 to Spain/Portugal and 2022 to Australia /\ well, they are not making multi-billion-dollar awards based on the slickest videos. You gotta look past the superficial.

I loved the Australia video, the Aussies sure know how to present. England's video lacked something, but it wasn't as bad as the British press made it out to be. The United States video was ..... erm. Yeah. They really shouldn't have bothered.

I saw some bids videos. I think Australia brought an emotional message for a WC in Australia. Nicole Kidman spoke about advantages of Australia. US bid videos is more technical than Australia's, as if a networks TV presented the bids. It was funny ESPN theme was used. I am going to see more videos.

Well good luck to them comrades. Ideally you want host cities and venues spread out the country showing the country's unity through sport and highlighting as well as providing sporting infrastructure to the football teams of the Russian football league. But of course, this can't ideally work. Aside from the travel times, distance and how to get there, you'd end up with like 8 venues in the...

^^ Oh please, with that logic you'd make sure that Honolulu and Anchorage get an assured host city status. Build a new stadium in Anchorage and hope that Aloha Stadium would do for Honolulu. But of course that's not going to happen. With a wealth of stadiums, I can easily see 12 host cities, after all if you got the required venues, why go for the bare minimum, when there's 4 more cities ...

I just hope, any bid mounted by us involves at the very least all capital cities.

Oh, and some early "controversy" Figo arrival causes USA upset US bid leaders were furious after Luis Figo's arrival interrupted their video presentation of the their campaign for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. The arrival of Figo, bid ambassador for the rival Spain/Portugal bid, led to a rush of reporters and photographers leaving the USA's video right in the middle of the ...

I like the idea of Iberian Cup... if Madrid doesnt win the 2016 Olympics which will most likely happen, they'll have more chances. and EU last cup was back in 1998 france so maybe great chances..Portugal has hosted eurocopa

In the bar down the bottom make sure "show all" is shown in the drop down box, rather than "last 30 days". Maybe that's the problem.
