While the mini 10v with XP (assuming 1GB RAM) is suitable for most of what you're doing, certain things like Database Programming, Java programming, and desktop/distributed apps will require more memory, especially for compiling/testing. Especially consider: What IDEs (i.e. programming environments) you will be using? A programming environment like Eclipse or Visual Studio can take up a lot of memory when started up, and at that point...

Ultimate offers nothing specific for gamers. It offers nothing 95% of gamers would probably even use, compared to Home Premium or Professional.

No, not really. The bottleneck just starts to dissapear at higher resolutions, because the cpu is outputting the same data to the gpu, so the graphics card starts to run at the same speed as the same cpu.

Well you didn't say if you're in 64bit or not, if you are you might need readydriver, which disables driver validity checks on each bootup. If not, then just go ahead and download rivatuner.

A strong GPU is very helpful in video editing. Well at least for nVidia cards because of CUDA. But generally I believe, anything with media related activities, a strong GPU is the way to roll. Edited on Dec 3, 2009 8:28 pm PT

Yeah, now you just need to play a game that supports PhysX Most games dont have it so you wont get any benefit, NVIDIA have some PhysX demo's you can try if you want also.
