Well that was a dumb idea, all they're saying is "If you got it from Steam don't patch the game". No help here?

That's what is great in Deus Ex, you can't just take with you 50 guns and tons of ammo, you have to make a choice . I'd recommend that you use small guns like the basic gun, the crossbow, also the electric prod, they don't take much space and they are fine weapons, also take a riffle for the most difficult fights in the game, and you'll do fine. Have fun, this is merely the best game ever made .

Have you tried running Deus Ex in Windows 2000 compatibility mode? I'm not sure how easy that would be to do using Steam, though I do know that you can replace the GOTY DeusEx.exe with the original - could help. You should try the Steam Deus Ex forums. Wish I could offer more info.

ok, I've got some questions: Is there any place I can store the crap in my inventory? I'm somewhat of a pack rat and that gep gun is taking up way too much space. Does killing enemies actually affect the storyline? or can I kill as much as I want?

It's a bug in the version of the map in the Game of the Year Edition. It's fixed by yukichigai's mod Shifter. Shifter also adds a decent amount of new content to the game, so I'd recommend you give it a look. http://www.moddb.com/mods/shifter1

Oh and sorry to bother again since I don't have access to their forums yet, I was wondering if there is anyway to know if I am running HDTP or is there something I have to do after installing to make it run with TNM.

Did you try activating cheats, or going into your inventory and dropping all your items. Shifter had this old bug where when playing certain mods your inventory would lock up when you change a map and somehow having cheats active all the time would fix it.

Don't trust anyone. Your actions are (almost always) yours to choose but you will have consequences. Thats all you will need to know for a first time play through.
