There have been a few causes of corrupted firmware, but I've not heard of one being caused by any virus or infection because it can only really target one specific model of one specific part, so the amount of people that would be affected by it are pretty damn slim in the first place. Most people just assume the computer's dead when windows doesn't start up.

So I haven't been able to log onto msn for a week. Troubleshoot says there's a problem with my default gateway... Huh? And Move Media Player used to be installed in Chrome and worked fine. But I ditched that and came back to firefox. Yet, I can install it but nothing plays (used to work fine in vista). Help? Windows 7. Firefox 3.5.5 Windows Live Messenger Build 14.0.8089.726

It took my upgrade about 4 1/2 hours. Depending on how much you have on your hard drive, it can take a couple hours. I suggest you do the upgrade overnight and be patient. Quitting the upgrade midway could crash your computer and make you have to clean install your OS.

Try changing the loading screen to a just text version, and see what happens...

Try not opening so many tabs. Do you get an error message when it crashes?

Robo_Bobb This has happened 4 or 5 times already my toshiba laptops disk drive just disappears off the computer I've called toshiba and they helped me fix it but it disappears within 2 weeks the 4th time I took it to a place and paid to get it fixed and it worked but a month later I looked and it was gone again so does anyone have a idea to see if I can bring it back for permanent?
