I daresay, that some of you are quite generous in suggesting the prices you have! I would like to offer these units at or around the price-point of the types of engines being used in various vehicles. For example, for use behind an LS7, or built LS3, I would like to have a suitable transaxle for around $15,000...about the same price as the engine. I don't mean a marginal unit either, but a transaxle fully capable of handling the...

Bill - I would happy to discuss this with anyone, I understand where your friend is coming from I believe, but that might have been a misunderstanding of what I was trying to get across, I am not sure. Still all and all I do not profess to the end all authority on any subject, and I would be happy to continue discussion on this or anything else. Thanks for the post. I should also add that there is a 924 turbo with a highly modified Grand National engine (3.8L v6 turbocharged) and a 944 with an LS1 with a Magnison supercharger both with over 550 ft lbs of torque at the rear wheels using this transaxle without any issues. The LS1 car is raced at the drag strip often as well. The guy with the 924 destroyed a few 944 016 transaxles before he got the 951 (944 turbo) transaxle.

Howard has a good point. $20K baseline is not unreasonable, perhaps a tad low by the time it's all said and done. I am an exception only because I had a lot of "free" assistance. 430HP LS1 with a 930 LSD gearbox for less than $15K. This includes modified front dress, oil cooler, filter & pump for the gearbox and milled bracket & slave cylinder for the clutch. An oil cooler for the engine and all associated...

Your post & explanation continues the confusion by useing examples as 60/40 giving a total of 100 which people assume is % etc .
Since the ramp angles can be anything from 0° to 90° on either acceleration/deceleration..... then there could be combos such as 20°/0° or 70°/70° or any other with ramp° between 0/90..
Actually after thinking about it , in reality due to the mechanical ...

The 944 transaxle is basically a derivative of the Audi 016 gearbox.
Points for, Better 1st and 2nd ratios and final drive ratio and the availability of an LSD.
Points against, No mounting points for clutch actuation parts.
A search will probably find a few more for and against, but these are the basics.

I can't speak to this particular project - but I would be willing to bet that the folks at Quick-Time Performance are already looking into it...
They already have a bellhousing to go from the GM LS engine to the Porsche 944 (Torque tube) and some of their automatic bellhousings look like they would be good candidates for modification.. Quick Time Performance Products

Hi
May be they would like to use a MENDIOLA :-))
Its for show and just for show. The gearbox " sequential 5 speed" pictured is a Porsche G50 ( may be bought at MENDIOLA, but that´s it).
It looks like a G50 01/ or / 02 ( or they have modified it to the short endcap).
SEQUENTIAL ? i dont think so. They even run it with the small (weaker) differential cover, so i dont believe they have done...

To further the above post, check some prices on the Ricardo, G50's, etc. ANY RELIABLE transaxle tailored for our market at a competive price (using "off the shelf" internals would be the cat's behind!

Hm, after doing a bit more reading on here it looks like nobody else is running a UN5, so probably not much in the way of help?
