Sen. Dodd: Civilian Courts...
Published (2009-11-25 08:25:00)
(CNSNews.com) Senator Christopher Dodd (D-Conn.) said that civilian courts would do a far better job of prosecuting terrorists than military courts, adding that the civilian venues would be more likely to bring top al Qaeda terrorists to justice. But Dodd did not directly answer whether 9/11 leader Osama bin Laden, if captured, should be read his Miranda rights. CNSNews.com asked: If and when we catch Osama bin Laden, are we going to...

Democrats' Unity on Healthcare Collapsing - AP WASHINGTON The 60 votes aren't there any longer. With the Senate set to begin debate Monday on healthcare overhaul, the all-hands-on-deck Democratic coalition that allowed the bill to advance is fracturing already. Yet majority Democrats will need 60 votes again to finish. Some Democratic senators say they'll jump ship from the bill without tighter restrictions on abortion...

You are so right grayjack. And what happened to that blustering Lieberman who said he would not vote for this bill and would filibuster it if it had the public option in it? Is he afraid of losing his chairmanship on his committee?

Good summation, Suze. Quote: Im not opposed to the military courts but having a bunch of congressmen and senators sitting around here deciding that theyre going to be the attorney general and the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff and the secretary of defense is a little presumptuous, Dodd told CNSNews.com on Capitol Hill. And giving them the decision-making process as to where this must be done frankly ought not to be decided by...

The scary thing I keep seem to be hearing about both of these health care "reform" bills is that if I am laid off, or if I change jobs, I am forced unto the government health care dole. Then, even if my new employer offers their current employees private insurance, I am not allowed to get into their private plan? Obama always says we can keep our current private insurance, but it don't sound like we get to have private...

Being they have voted to move this on to floor debate I feel "we the people" have just been unceremoniously and unsavoredly seduced. Guess we will know soon who votes to pass it.

There's no way the CBO can accurately predict the expenses on something this complicated and far-reaching. The numbers are, IMO (and in the reality of entitlement history), extremely optimistic. As far as the Democrats go, they have to realize that the public option is a no-go for a great majority of the people - who have been clear that they do not want more government intervention in their health care situation. This fact makes...

Quote: According to the reports, the CBO has also estimated that the bill would reduce deficits by $127 billion and cover 31 million uninsured Americans. Schumers' an arrogant ass! But, how can you (reduce deficits) save money by (covering) spending money? Oh-thats right...the Biden philosophy. Maybe I'm not reading this right, maybe it provide 2 different objectives. 1) Somehow reduce deficit's and 2) Cover the uninsured....

Hmmm, that's odd. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is only just now thinking about banning earmarks?
Is this the same Nancy Pelosi that got the speaker's job as a result of the electoral sea-change that brought the Democrats back into the majority on promises of more transparent government, fiscal responsibility, and an end to earmarks?
And NOW , after a spending spree that ...

Stabenow added that the Senate bill does not go as far as the House bill in limiting abortion access for women, but it does keep in place "30 years of settled law that says that federal funds should not be used to pay for abortions."
Even this isn't true...Planned Parenthood receives many millions of dollars in federal funds. PP does abortions. Abortion is their primary source of revenue, ...
