Quote: I can't imagine enthusiasm over selling or licensing the IP to a Chinese manufacturer. Apparently, this is why the BAIC deal fell through. Quote: So there are effectively 3 new Saabs in the pipeline? 3? Not really. There's the 9-5, plus a wagon version, and the 9-4X. I don't know if there was ANY work done on a new 9-3.

Somewhere in a few weeks, a traveling pharmacy salesperson will be driving the last American made Pontiac from customer to customer. What an incredibly tragic end to such a storied American brand.

Quote: Lutz might be a "car guy" but his track record at Pontiac is nothing to tip your hat too. Point taken... I guess my overall idea is the more 'car guys' we have at the top the better. I concede to your point that they need to make better decisions though.. I dunno, it just seems to me like too many at the top have no care for the automobile heritage or history. What has been done at GM over the last 35 years...

New Suitors For Saab: Bloomberg
Published (2009-11-26 23:10:00)
Considering the insanity over at OPEL and GM's limited resources, I have to think they are greatly motivated to sell SAAB. Or to put it another way; with Liquidation Motors in the business of liquidating assets, you have to figure SAAB will either be sold cheap or liquidated.

It's a sad way to go out for Pontiac. First they starve it of products and then they end production of the brand with no fanfare. I am looking forward to the demise of GMC. When gas prices go up, the rebadged Chevy trucks can go away and the Acadia and Terrain can be given to Buick.

Published (2009-11-27 10:14:00)
What choice does the EIB have don't lend them the money and Sweeden will take a hit along with the other Euro countries where the suppliers are? It probably wouldn't be a huge hit but a symbolic one with what Saab means to the people of Sweeden, when do politicians/government say "hey lets withhold money and lose jobs it sounds like a great idea".

The six-month lending is indeed a bit out of place, out of the lifeline provided to automakers earlier this year only a fraction was used by a Volvo Trucks hybrid development unit which didn't have issues with liquidity anyway, they only used it as cheap financing.
Well, if GM sticks with Saab it wouldn't make sense to lend them money and "see what happens", as what happens might be a huge ...

Boy that 9-5 looks sharp in that picture. I wonder if Gm could also sell off part of the company and that way they could keep them and have some money to help get the new products out faster.
Maybe sell off part of the company to a consortium of Saturn dealers where Saabs could then be sold.

They can keep dreaming but GM is going to be shutting these guys down in my
opinion. I don't see how anyone can make money building and exporting Saabs
from Sweeden.

Never say never? I had no idea the 9-5 production line was ready to go.
Will GM pull a new vehicle on a new assembly line there (along with the new 9-3x, and the new 9-4x in Mexico) after all the investment?

Resale of my Saturn Sky drops like a rock because GM pulled the plug, and all they offer me is a free oil change? Dang! LOL! That's actually pretty funny.....
