There is a local dealer here who is so damn good that a customer would come in looking to buy a Corolla and drive out in a Troopy

The rate at which foreign backpackers roll Troopies on dirt means a never-ending supply of cosmetic writeoffs in the auctions. Hire joints over-insure them to buggery to get a return on rentals. The panels are only 0.8mm thick and very hard to get back into square, flat shape once bent. They oilcan something terrible with any heat, as the guy at my hobby panel beating course discovered. He wondered why it was so cheap with few km but one side...

A lot of tradies are now referring to Hilux and Triton as utes now. It doesn't really matter whether it is right or not .

Hmmm, the thousands of awful Yaris', Corollas and Camrys must offset the Hilux, Landcruiser and the rest of Toyota's guzzlers.

I wouldn''t mind seeing the El Camino return, and if these "utes" are not meant as replacements fotraditional pickups, then I welcome them too. Variety is a good thing in the auto market.

Sign me up for a Holden Ute, regardless of the badge it would wear in the US. This I could use. I've always had a new Chevy pickup as a spare family vehicle or for utility purposes around the property, but I just never warmed up to the GMT-900 models. A Ute would better serve our needs. I'd buy one today if it was sold here.

How many years is he going to rely on that Monaro press shot. We know your getting older Mike. You aren't fooling anyone!
<edit: Oh wait. I just saw the pic from the quoted article. He still looks the same!/edit>

70,000 units is a bit ambitious right-per year?

Now that is an interesting concept for a car test! I bet I know which one would get to the Clubhouse first.

Seems as though the Aussies (or a select few haters in their media) are getting as good at attacking and destroying their companies as we are here in america.
Then again, I guess Holden was the only bright spot in GM, so why not try to bring it down as well.

This is going to be an interesting playoff. Loyal Holden wagon owners have vented their dissatisfaction at the reduced cargo area of the sportwagon compared with the previous VT-VZ series.
Die hard holden wagon owners may not consider the change if the Ford offer is the 2.3 engine without a 6cyl option.
This is going to be interesting indeed.
Mind though, please don't wake the Ford ...
