I spent several hours today playing Arkham Asylum in 2-screen Eyefinity (with 2x SS AA -- eat that NV! ). I know dualscreen is far from ideal, but it actually works out okay in Arkham Asylum, since the perspective is usually off-center. The screen space of 2 24" monitors is actually a little bit wider than my 46" TV, but the bump in resolution is what really makes it awesome. When I get my 3rd monitor, I'll be running...

It's always been the achilles heel IMHO of ATi, the drivers...
The hardware is generally fine, but it almost seems like your owning a card that's in a constant state of flux regarding application bugs.
Though according to ATi if you pick up a <R600 based card then it's 100% perfect and compatible right...?

Eyefinity on the 5970 is only supported in 21 titles so far, so if it isn't
on the list, then you are out of luck and will have to wait and hope they
add support later.

GPU/Shader/VRAM 530/1325/800 is correct at max. utilisation. It's possible
that the energy savings have kicked in despite the benchmark running in the
background. Try running something like 3DMark06 on the foreground and set
the GPU-Z to log the clocks and temps to file.

I can't give too much advice here but I have a 19 inch hans - g and its a pretty decent monitor. So I would bet those 28" would be great. Other than that. Sorry I'm useless, let me see the setup afterwards though ;D

If thermal paste reapplication didn't work I would assume something is
either wrong with the card or the case's airflow but if your hard drives
and CPU is fine then it is something with your GFX. I would RMA it if
possible or buy a new one.

The 5970 doesn't have an HDMI port. It comes with a mini- Display Port to
Display Port adapter, and if you want to use Eyefinity on a monitor that
doesn't have a Display Port, you'll need to get an active Display Port to
DVI adapter.
