Hayden, Don't panic too much about the mayonnaise at this stage. If the car has been left for a while it may just be a result of condensation. If it's still there after a week or so of good running around at temperature, then I'd look into it further. But if it goes after a bout of regular driving around, then forget about it. Matt

I don't think I will go down the auto box route. Apparently, the petrol auto box has different shift points to the diesel, so even if one could be made fit, it might not work properly anyway.

Well last night it was a nice night... So decided to start drawing out the wiring loom for the engine bay, but got sidetracked with the wiring in the rear of the car. So work done last night: - Removed all excess wiring from the rear end of the car - Started re-running the wiring for the phase 1 to phase 2 rear light conversion - Sanded back some surface rust and re-painted with zinc paint (sorry i know it's not Por-15 George) Picking up...

Removing rear brake drum on 206 XT
Published (2009-11-25 12:19:00)
Find a reputable brake workshop in your area and have them true the drums and measure for size. Have the shoes rebonded to the drum size and buy new wheel cylinders. Like I mentioned earlier, you can't have the cylinders resleeved so get new ones and be careful not to buy too cheap as experience from a friends car says the cheap knock-offs are just that, cheap. Just make sure you use a small amount of brake or high temp grease on the...

I've done 45,000km in mine and the engine has been bullet proof. I'm more than happy with what has been a brilliant engine, in my experience. The issues on 207oc don't seem to be anywhere near as common here in Australia.

Any water in the radiator? If not it has gone somewhere. i'm tippen into your oil. I would just take out the plugs and turn it over. That way you can see if water comes out. Cheers Matt

604 fails MOT

I'd be pretty confident of getting an M12 x 1.5 nut at my local bolt shop........ At worst they would order it in...... the cost would be pence, rather than pounds....

Problem #1
I bought a 505 as a spare parts car yesterday. A 1985 SRi series 1, ZDJL, 5 speed manual, a few mods ect. The previous owner said it didn't run because of a blown fuel pump.
When I got it home I pulled the oil fill cap off and all the innards are covered in a caramel coloured creamy substance, does anyone know what this would be from? The oil seems to be over full(the car was ...

Hayden,
Your car will have the Bosch KE2-Jetronic injection system I think. I know the earlier K-Jetronic system better but check if there are any air leaks in the inlet side. Air/vacuum leaks will cause idling problems. My experience is with the STI model but the theory should be the same.
One of my STIs had a loose clamp around the big bellow type rubber part that mounts to the ...

Well it has finally happened. Thanks to loosing access to the work car, I had the excuse to go pug looking after 15 years of Oz made "things". I will miss them every time I pay for the fuel, but I am sure that the low kms 2003 SV 6 406 in black with a sunroof (that I pick up this weekend) will ease the pain in between!
So pleased to be back on this site legitimately. Now the name reflects ...

Nice car in red but was never crazy about the tan leather interior.
Pity they dumped the Brembo brakes on that (last of the series) model too.

You have my sympathy. AFAIK, in NSW the trader is the entity you paid the money to i.e. the dealer. I am not a lawyer and this is not advice.
I bought a Golf.

IMO get a second opinion...
1. Not likely for the "whole" exhaust system to get blocked.... more than likely your cat is buggered..... you can check the rest of the system yourself by looking underneath... look for holes (=noisy car) and cracked joints, rust, etc
2. Clutch...it could be any number of things.... might just need a new cable...or even adjustment... or clutch could be on its...

Marcello,
110 is a tad on the high side but can be seen if the car has been sitting in traffic for extended periods and the ambient air temperature is fairly warm.

Hi Nights,
Welcome to
Removing the drum on the 206 is pretty standard for front wheels drives. There's a metal dust cap you need to remove and then you have access to the nut.
Once the nut is off, generally it's just a tap with a hammer job to get the drum off. You'll need a socket for the nut, as it's recessed into the drum.
There's a link to the factory procedure here, but...

Yeah, got to keep them on the road! I liked my 604, except for the carby. Unfortunately it later caught fire - due to its last owner fiddling where he shouldn't have been.
