Dropping the 207 GTi in the UK defies logic - as does selling the nastiest version as a "Kris Meeke Edition" - but that's marketing for you.

405 headlining
Published (2009-11-12 21:54:00)
I just repaired the rooflining, following Jake's instructions to the letter, and it was easy as. It was probably 30 mins to get all the trims and lights off (no sunroof on mine). The only problem I had was getting the actual rooflining off, as it was glued on. Took about an hour with a plastic paint scraper getting it slowly off, then another hour with Prespsol and metho cleaning all the crap off the roof. Took it to the trimmers and the...

You have my sympathy. AFAIK, in NSW the trader is the entity you paid the money to i.e. the dealer. I am not a lawyer and this is not advice.
I bought a Golf.

Not being familar with 405s, my first guess would be a charcoal canister, part of the emission control system. It captures fuel vapours, preventing them from venting to the atmosphere.

I think you found it.
That vacuum port is meant to have a hose on it, (just had a look at mine).
There is a hose that runs under the injector rail and across the engine bay into a black plastic canister, (under the air intake hose between the cyclone filter and the main filter canister), which runs into a off white tube that runs back to the fire wall, (I think it has something to do with ...

How does she run? Was it a standard rebuild, or did you change anything?

Hi Harry,
I'm surprised noone's given you any better info here, but I have a couple of things that might help you out.
Because the AC compressor puts extra load on the engine, the idle speed normally needs to be "pulled up" a little bit to compensate. In a petrol car, there's normally an electric valve which opens when the AC compressor is engaged, which causes it to "idle up".
In a ...

Sorry mate, I've got no no pictures, but the thermostat is under the metal hose join at the right (passenger) side of the engine, follow the big hose from the top of your radiator back to where it joins the head.
Two bolts hold on the hose joint / cap thingy. Do a search on here for the Haynes manual PDF (or on Google), it will give you the correct procedure for refilling and bleeding the ...

Its called a wheel spacer.
You can but them new or just have a machine shop fabricate some , and indeed I'd suggest that a new spacer block would be more reassuring than one made from a tired old rim.
They seem popular with the 4x4 gang, so you'd probably find a 4x4 workshop who would make some up for you in a custom size
Because of the casting shape of the old rim, there seems to be a bit of ...

About time.. I'd rather them kill off the GTi namesake than continue using it on sub standard cars that are a sacreligious of those 3 letters...
Peugeot haven't been serious about a GTi for the last 10 years.

This can be caused by any number of things.
Firstly, what does it smell like???? Sweetish??,unburnt fuel??, acrid???
Is there any drop in the coolant level, (even a small ammount of antifreeze can cause excess white smoke on start up, (indicating that when cold a small leak is evident)).
Or unburnt fuel.
Or brake fluid getting sucked into the intake??

Eli,
Nice choice of cars mate !!
I had an S3 205 GTI, and sold it to buy my '6' - and never regretted it.
The 306, especially the later N5 models, are so much more solidly built than the 205 you'll be amazed !
I haven't done the cam belt myself (only actually had it done once in 11 years anyway) so it's not really a major cost as it just doesn't come up that often - I think ...

Hi Macgeek,
Welcome to
I don't have one - and I don't really believe in them. All they do is wake people up from their slumber
If you feel you need one, it's best to get a factory one for the pug. It already comes with a flashing red light on the centre console that might lead people to believe it has one, plus it has a rolling code transponder thingy for the ignition system already.

Nice car in red but was never crazy about the tan leather interior.
Pity they dumped the Brembo brakes on that (last of the series) model too.

Yep - looks like the latest recall is YSC....Which was for the same mod on 5263 X 307 and Expert models - looks like a large recall
When was your vehicle manufactured ?
No note for me yet....it might be a phased recall...
Cheers
Justin
