First of all welcome & big hugs! I guess I am a little confused because if you are his 1/2 sister and at least 18, I would assume he could live with you period (no license required).? You are an adult, 1/2 blood relative, correct?? Maybe I am wrong?!?!? Contact his current SW and flat out ask for custody of him. I would think because of his age and the problems he is currently experiencing they could help expedite the process of you...

Quick question

Well, I found out more information.? My daughter's friend is legally free, and they are looking for an adoptive family for her.? This girl is meeting with her social worker and her lawyer tomorrow, and she's going to request to be placed with us.? She (girl) said that her social worker would support a placement with someone she already knows.? I haven't spoken to the worker yet, but I'm optimistic given the fact that...

So after no sleep last night and agonizing over the time going to slow we got a phone call that the trap didn't work and the mom didn't show up. So we won't be getting those 2 little girls after all. So back on the list we go. I know a lot of this process is about disappointment but I was so excited!! So now I am kinda bummed but at the same time trying to keep an open mind and hope that the next phone call will come really...

An update on life with three kids

Life definitely sounds busy at your house!!? It will get better as you develop a routine and they adjust to each other.? You mentioned the Bdad having rights?terminated and that you were sad about that.? Is there a chance that they would?terminate on the baby and not the older son who is more bonded?? Has Bdad been working his plan any better?? I know it would be hard to separate the kids, but at 5 years old, it seems to me that the dad and...

I've made it abundantly clear that we'd adopt and raise this little girl. I"ve made my concerns about her safety with other family very clear also, to the caseworker.? I'm thinking they will rule out grandma and ask us next, but you never know.? ? Grandma hired an attorney and he's assured them that getting the child will be no problem.? I am pretty sure that he can't have all of their criminal records erased and...

I would think that with the prior arrests she'd be disqualified right away.? I mean, seriously...who would place a child with someone like that??? Our youngest, who is now 3, had relatives who wanted her too.? G-ma was married to an illegal alien and they would not even consider her unless she was not with him.? Aunt had allegations of abuse in the family and she was not considered either.? So, they are pretty strict here...as they...

An update on life with three kids

Hey, its been three weeks since my former foster son became a current foster son and boy has it been crazy. I barely have time to breathe, let alone eat or sleep. I'm so exhausted. Having him here has definetly changed the dynamic in our household. He is smack-dab in the middle age-wise of the other two kids and that is difficult. He thinks he is 5 too, (he is 3) and do things the older one does. The older one doesn't understand why...

Welcome to the rollercoaster that you are about to get on!!!!!? How exciting and nerve wracking the wait is.? Try to prepare the best you can for them.? Have age appropriate toys out as well as snacks.? The first few days are the hardest as they are placed with complete strangers.? I can still see the boys huddled together?in the corner of the couch with my DH looking as scared as they were the first time I met them (I was at a training two...

Welcome to the world of uncertainty. About 6 years ago I made a report about a young girl in my dfd's class after talking with the teacher and getting information. While the kids were out on vacation this girl's family moved to the county my dfd was from to avoid CPS in our county. I was asked if I would take this girl should they take the kids into custody. There were 3 kids and that would mean they would be separated. I waited...

Yes, it does sound like that to me!
If you want this baby, specifically ask the SW to consider you for placement immediately. If you are a licensed FP in another state then you have a leg up on a family that has had numerous children removed, court orders that were broken and some felony charges, regardless of being a "relative" - "relatives" at this point seem to be detrimental to a ...

That poor girl. I despise how they give so little notice!
Yes, you would be highly considered, having a prior relationship, she knows your daughter and you want a 13yr old!
Hopefully your daughter is still in contact with this girl. Have her ask the girl for her Social Worker's name and definitely get the agency they are with.
I would then contact the agency/this ...

Heidi - Big Hugs to you!!
I totally know how you feel. When I had the 3 f-kids along with my own 3 kids and a DH who travels frequently I barely would breathe some nights. LOL
You'll get in a routine and then you will be on auto-pilot until they are in bed! Give yourself some time and don't shortchange yourself - use some sort of respite to refresh yourself frequently.
I am so glad ...
