Don't take take the alternator out to test it. The entire charging system can be dynamically tested in the car.

Have you checked the earth strap that connects the engine to the chassis? I believe it is to the rear of the engine.

LOL you need to find a new tech. S2K doesn't have hydraulic power steering. There must be something up with your EPS module.

QUOTE (03AP1 @ Nov 19 2008, 10:08 AM) I'd inspect all the wiring that you know has been tampered with... o2 sensor, air pump harness, G501 and splices. If you have an aftermarket alarm or aftermarket radio w/accessories, I'd check to see what those are tied off into.. Electrical problems aren't fun! I strongly recommend getting a Helms manual/electrical book if you plan on troubleshooting this yourself. Good luck and...

Well I guess the horsepower gain is insignificant and does not offset the damage that the gases would do to the environment. Plus I will have problems finding someone to install the test pipe. I dont have a lift to get to the exhaust otherwise Id do it myself and my ground effects make it impossible to get under my car. Thanks for the advice.

There are also lots of different views on catalytic convertors. It was made so people wouldnt be stupid and suffocate on the Carbon monoxide. Using a catalyst, it changes CO -> other gases, which some say actually harm the environment more than just CO.

Yeah it is weird...I've never seen a leak out from around a bolt like this...it's strange. I think I will replace the o-ring, it may be a bit of a pain but whenever I don't replace a part and just try to patch it instead, something always seems to go wrong...leaving me worse than before! I might use the RTV as a temporary solution...but I do believe it's almost time to replace the timing chain tensioner since I can...

So at idle when the car is not moving a persistent vibration in the steering wheel occurs whenever I try to turn the wheel to the right. The left doesn't create these symptoms nearly as easilly, but when it does they are not nearly as noticeable. I have checked the lugs and brake pad seating and that is fine. Any other ideas? I do know that I need a new battery bc its time for a change....

Hey guys, I need to lube the "Y" end of the release for this weekend. Was wondering what you guys used to reached it, since it's impossible to reach. Thanks, and how did it feel like after you were done for those who've done it ( stickiness gone?).

Ok, I have spent the last hour searching and reading old posts. No one seems to have an exact "this is what you need to do the install." I am looking at a kia sportage front axle assembly that houses the 4.77 gear this weekend at a local junkyard. I want to know what else is needed to do the swap. I will have a local shop here do the swap but is there anything else I need to bring them? ...

Alright gentleman, I've been having trouble diagnosing this problem and was hoping you could help. I've been getting this clunking noise from the right rear suspension for a while now. The sound only happens over bumps, and happens more frequently when it is colder (this one really confuses me). I recently swapped out my stock struts/springs for a set of coilovers and the noise stayed the ...

Okay, I got a hardtop, the wiring harness, the console defroster switch, and plugged everything in (including the hardtop into the port behind the driver's seat). Got a defroster relay, put it in the fuse box by the clutch pedal in the spot indicated in the pic below. Nada. Zip. No light comes on when I press the defrost button in the console, and fog doesn't disappear from my window. Is...

Dear all I have had my S2 a month now and have noticed the clutch getting noisy. It is making a loud wurring/scraping noise which disapears when you depress the clutch. I only know about cable clutches and wondered if you could shed some light on the subject. I have a full warranty with the car and wondered if it would be worth taking it back or is it normal? I'd not noticed the sound when I ...

being that there was a change to SAE ratings, and 90w is now 110w, many of us are using le 1605 which is an sae 110w. my question is, since there was an sae update, do newer s2000 owner's manual specify 110w for the diff oil, or does it still say 90w? and if it still says 90w, wouldn't it be incorrect for people to go out and purchase 90w gear oil? also for mobil 1 users, when do people ...

Hope this is the right place for this thread as I am still pretty new here. Someone is selling a 05 F22c head and block with 5000 miles on it for a decent price and I would love to pick it up for a boost build. My question is, are the heads and blocks the same and swap-able, besides using my sensors and TB since I have DBW. Please lmk what is and isn't interchangeable between the early ap2 ...

Hi all, been having a bit of a problem lately. when i press the clutch pedal in all the way to the floor, it sort of...sticks. it comes back up on its own fine, but its kinda annoying to drive that way. any ideas what it could be? the clutch engages fine and disengages fine, its just sticky a little bit when it hits the floor. when the car is cold it doesnt do it, at least not noticeably. ive ...

Hey Guys, MY01 power steering has been going in and out at low speeds, especially around parking lot speeds. If I turn the wheel to lock when I'm at a stop, it SHUDDERS for 5-10 seconds or until I cut off the car. I just got off the phone with a tech from a local honda dealsership and he said "if you turn your wheel from lock to lock at low speeds, it will cause the steering fluid to boil...

I've searched around and all I can find is people with leaking headgaskets (as far as oil is concerned) has anyone had a leak from the allen screw in the front of the engine? It is a very slow leak as soon as I start the engine cold...once it heats up it still leaks but very slowly. Almost a trickle. I tried tightening the bolt but it was very tight already. The only mod I have is 75psi ...

Hi All, I'm new here and I just picked up an used '05 Silverstone S2K three days ago. I've been loving every moment of it. There are 2 things that I've noticed that is odd. 1) The common 1st-2nd gear change is a bit notchy to a point like a very slight grind. I read around here and noticed that it is common in the cold weather. As well, the car has 34,000km and I think it'...

so i finally read through all the TSB's (was looking up other things) and i realized that I have clutch buzz.. I thought nothing of it and just assumed it was from the tranny being directly underneath that caused the buzz/vibration upon deceleration from high RPMs. so how do i bring this to the dealer if im out of warranty? im looking to sell my car soon, and would love to have the ...

I've got the motor on the stand right now but I can't pull these cylinder head bolts. They move a little (1/16th of a turn). They feel like they are torqued at 500 ft/lbs. I've never felt head bolts this tight. So my question is... Are they suppose to be this tight? Is there some odd method to pulling them? Thanks for the help in advance.

Is it possible to have a bad pressure plate? My car has a HTG kit, (act pp,oem disc and comptech fly) with about 14k on it. I was driving casually along, shifted into 3rd...then fixing to shift into 4th, when i noticed the clutch didn't disengage when i pressed the clutch in. I pressed again and the clutch pedal stuck to the floor. Pull it back up and i am still stuck in 3rd gear. ...

I have 122,XXX miles on my 00 and have noticed that there is a little bit of stumbling/hesitation between 2,000 and 3,000 rpm lately. I don't have any CEL and the car runs great otherwise. I'm contacting the previous owner to see if he changed the spark plugs but according to the manual they're good for 120K. Has anyone else experienced this issue before, was it spark plugs or ...

I installed a high flow cat recently, and found that I have a pretty bad rattle from 1500-3000 RPMs, and then at WOT. The thing is, at cold start or warming up, there is no rattle whatsoever, but when the car is warmed up, the rattling starts. I can definitely hear it through the center console, and it it right around where the cat is. Weird thing is, I put it on a lift and retorqued the ...

Hey everyone- I am in the middle of talking with a fellow member about swapping my OEM block for his Laskey built block and Port Flow head. He is parting out his car, and wants to return NA. I still have my OEM ECU, and was going to give it to him as part of the deal. We are both currently running AEM EMS. I am wondering if we need to get his key re-programmed for the ignition immobilizer,...
