Boil the sugar and water and then add the cranberries and only cook about 6 to 10 minutes on low.  Then add any additional flaverings and remove from heat .  Cool and then refrigerate. I only use bread, onions , celery, butter, and seasonings in my dressing.  You can use water or chicken broth.  The seasonings are salt, pepper, sage and poutery seasoning and it is always really good.

For everyday use, like for cooking, use whatever you like. It would be a waste of money to cook with expensive Olive oil though. Heat destroys the delicate flavors. Save that kind for dressings, dips, etc.

You can freeze yeast without killing it. Heat will kill yeast but cold won't hurt it. You will have to defrost your dough and bring it to room temperature before it will rise again though.
