( Did you make sure to turn off all anti-virus programs before installing? Especially Norton & McAfee--QuickBooks doesn't get along well with those 2 programs. Any chance your new computer is Vista or Windows 7? Any version of QB's 2006 or earlier does not work on Vista and therefore I expect it will also not work on Windows 7 computers.

i have un installed and reinstalled QB, updated my windows 7 and even to a point that maybe just maybe my cd is corrupted i tried downloading it from the website and install it to no avail. please take note that my windows 7 is a new one \(Fresh out of the box\) and i even REINSTALL my operating system.

I did some research and it looks like this issue is currently under investigation. More information about it can be found here . I would try the suggestion to create and restore a portable company file, as that may resolve this error for you....

We made a few fixes for the QB2010 Report Center in the latest update. These fixes might fix your problem. Can you download it and let us know if this problem is fixed?
To update, go to the Help menu in QuickBooks.

This error indicates that your data file is corrupted. You need to submit your data file to Intuit data server to fix
Once the file is fixed, please make sure to upgrade to latest patch R9 which has measures to protect the data against corruption.

mine was doing that too. discovered that if i already had excel open, rather than letting quickbooks try to open it, it didn't freeze any more.

The register on the home page picks the first account in the list. Make your checking account be first in the chart of accounts list.

- The size of your company file \(you can right click on the QBW file and look at the size\)
