Sorry to duplicate but it's difficult to know which Forum is best. I've put this on PC Talk via this opening post - http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1004&message=33797174 If anyone else can help provide some more useful info I would greatly appreciate it. Time is , as they say, of the essence.. and whilst I'm pretty well versed in a lot of tech things re Hi-Fi/cameras etc.. with around 50 or more years of it...

Just one more dumb question: is the shooting sensor a 3rd sensor additional to the 2 contrast detect sensors that evaluates the data supplied by these contrast detection sensors? I think there is only the shooting sensor / image sensor. That...

Who is making a P&S with the least total lag (AF + capture) time today? Using prefocus, many P&Ss are even faster than DSLRs. In this regard, Fujis, Sonys, Panasonics and Casios are about the fastest...

Photographer #1 wouldn't allow it.... Why would he/she let you keep from maximizing their profit? Here's a better idea... contract yourself out as the 2nd camera to the PHOTOGRAPHER. You could get paid for being the 2nd camera, without "competing" for the good shots.

I'd say the Fujifilm F70ERX fits your requirements nicely. In my view it has about the best balance of features; 27-270mm, IS, image quality, low light capability, form factor, manual control (if desired), and price I've seen. Best of all, one can set it up for an automatic mode that covers 98%+ of shots including extended dynamic range! Point, Zoom, and Shoot! Dave in Iowa

you do need to take cropped sensor into account. the 1/focal length rule is just a convenient way of remembering things. but the camera shake is to do with a) how much you shake, and b) the field of view, and c) how much blur is acceptable to you. the crop factor affects b), so it should affect your safe shutter speed calculations.

Hi I'm from finland. It's quite a hard (at least for me) to suggest any photoworthy places. While you are in Helsinki, I think you should visit Suomenlinna (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suomenlinna). One of my favourite photo thing is to take one day roadtrip with some friend(s). Just drive with car on rural finland and stop to take photos when ever someone sees anything interesting. For ...

Did you get permission from administration to be on campus? To film on campus? Did you contact security and let them know you'd be on a certain road for an hour shooting?

That's perfectly acceptable packaging. The serious shock protection is in the lens box itself. You yourself said nothing was damaged. Amazon could have taped the ends shut and put an address label on the lens box and sent it to you and all would have been fine. Think of the bigger box as added protection that's not even needed.

If you are just a casual snapper, then sure, a super zoom would cover all of your needs. If you are serious about your photography and want/need the best quality possible, the best lenses and the need to change lenses are things a photographer accepts and understands as part of the process. IMO, software can never replace what comes out of the lens. You can do a lot of things with Photoshop and...
