Its a great camera with fantastic IQ and features in a diminutive size but I had to give it up for E-30. The latter just felt right in my hands. I rather like it with the grip. without the grip it would...

The emphasis here is not on the stained glass, but on the elaborate wall paintings, mostly ceramic tiles in complex patterns : http://roelh.zenfolio.com/img/v7/p866054776-5.jpg (Istanbul, one of the Sultanic mausoleums leaning against Hagia Sophia).

Yes, I meant the E-3. Just mistyped. Thank you for catching that. Unfortunately, the time alloted for editing the post has expired so I can't correct it directly.

Take a look of the dxomark comparisons. Nikon rules, canon is nowhere near. A bit different in real world performance.

It's almost like iso 200 has a mild grad filter on all the time. I don't notice noise much at all in shots like this. The smooth grays of the sky or water is different. As with an actual grad filters, increasing foreground brightness doesn't always make the photo look better. In this one I also boosted the foreground a bit with Lightroom's grad filter, and used a dng profile based on jpeg output (I used that profile with...

In addition to vast differences of display, there's also differences in how your web browser renders and displays images. Specifically, your browser may change or affect color rendition based on file type, color space, and color profiles, among other things. This makes it very difficult for everyone to reach a common ground. The first step is to purchase a hardware-based monitor calibrator, ...

I made a frame for a panorama I made... doesn't sound like it is quite what you are doing, as I wanted to match the Ikea Ribba frame style (black frame with thick white matte); however, it was fairly easy. I bought some wooden edging at a hardware store, with some plexiglass as the glass. Cut the wood at the right size at 45 degree angles, glued it together, and cut a matte, and put it all ...

didn't necessarily receive a warm reception out of the starting gate. The E330 was one of those cams. Because of it's "different" body style and a few other "initial" issues, the E330 was not too well received. But as time went on it developed a following - but not soon enough as Olympus phased out the camera (and body style for that matter). This is a real shame. Yet this baby has one of...

Just had a quick look through the B&H "entry level DSLR buyers guide" Strange that they list Canon, Nikon, Sony and Pentax, but leave out Olympus. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/find/newsLetter/Entr y-Level-DSLRs.jsp They also don't seem to list the E420 any more - is the rest of the range just not considered entry level?

Gidday Doug Great pic, mate. Glad it all worked well for you. As to the other, get some blinkers ... most other brand users have these surgically implanted, lol ... ;) ;)

Primarily a larger entrance pupil is required for covering a larger image circle. The entrance pupil affects secondary effects like the depth of field, as well as the diffraction. The focal length decides primarily the angle of view. Regarding the Sigma 200-500mm f/2.8 zoom, let's assume the following specific experiment: With the EOS->m4/3 adapter it can be mounted on a FT sensor camera, as ...

According to some: An F8 lens is equivalent to a F16 and ISO 100 is equivalent to ISO 400 But there is a problem with both statements taken together. Equivalences are usefull and serve a purpose. Unfortunately equivalences can be misleading specially in the minds of those who seek not to use them for the intended purpose.

This is a placeholder for anything related to the C&C threads. And we do mean anything: feel free to start a discussion about the threads, or how you felt when your image was trashed by some mean know-it-all (probably not in this thread, though), or how it feels trying to say something polite about a cr @ ppy image posted for review (tough one). This is also the place to make arrangements and ...

Remember, that compact Sigma is also available for FT-bodies, bringing us a nice ( eqv) 400-1000mm f2.8 lens, only 19400... But there is also the 300-800mm lens for FT, making a handy 600 - 1600mm portrait lens. Cheap, just 5980. I suppose they are not very good handheld. Both lenses said to be in stock at GlobalMediaPro - anybody heard about that company before?

No experience with the Nikon, but I own the E-30 and those two lenses (along with several others) and am very happy with them all. As it turn out, most of my shooting is with those lenses (and I often use the EC14 teleconverter on the 50-200). In comparing how the systems might meet your needs, can you tell us more about what you shoot and in what environments? Is the Nikon's video a factor? I...
