It's odd, I must be in great shape for my age. I NEVER have an issue carrying my D700, 70-200 and 24-70. And do a lot of walking and hiking. But If i ever did get too weak to carry that gear, I'd rather have a few fast light primes than any crappy F4 zoom. Sorry...Nikon got it mostly right. And the 70-300 VR is at least as good as Canon's 70-200 F4, if not better. They CHOSE to make that instead of an F4 version. I've...

The sun hasn't really made an appearance here in Seattle in over a week, so I have not had a chance to really do anything with the 25-50/4 AI yet. Perhaps this weekend the weather gods will grace us with some sun and I'll be able to take it up a mountain for some snow pics. Otherwise all I'll be able to do is some indoor test pictures that compare it to some of my other lenses at like apertures. John...

The first thing to remember is you have a lot to learn. Don't be put off by early results. Get lots of practice and learn by your mistakes. The lens is superb so you can't blame the lens! Next thing to remember is DOF is very shallow so stop the lens down as much as you can and focus manually (or at least tweak manually). I bought a better tripod after trying macro and it was a good investment. i also bought a macro focussing rail...

It's now late November but we still have a few of these blooming in the front garden. I plucked this one just after a light drizzle and took it inside to shoot. This month is always very windy around here so it's nye impossible to photograph any flowers outdoors. I always think that blue is such a striking floral colour. http://kvincentphotography.ca/designerflorals/hcec7da4#hcec7da4 (click on photo to view larger image) D300,...

I'm looking forward to it. BTW, there have been some MTF ratings published, and they're through-the-roof, IIRC. I predict that once images from this lens start appearing in this forum, that it will be almost as hard to find in stock as the 35 1.8G was for the first few months after it's release. .

Well I have seen it available for preorder from a Japanese seller on ebay, stating it will be shipped on the 28th http://cgi.ebay.de/NEW-Nikon-AF-S-NIKKOR-70-200mm- f-2-8G-ED-VR-II-2-9x_W0QQitemZ320452481979QQcmdZVi ewItemQQptZCamera_Lenses?hash=item4a9c74d3bb

I had a chance to try one, & found it quite entertaining. Zoom, which I am not generally a fan of, really makes this lens. Liking it suprised me, too ... as I use to have a 16mm FF Fisheye Nikon (FF film dayz), which really never did anything for me ... Enjoy ... Cheers.

Dealers typically get notice long before new products showing up in stores, pricing and availability included. A responsible manufacturer would also manage their channel inventory very carefully so they don't get stuffed with older products. And finally most reseller agreement would have clauses for buy back or exchange of older products when new one coming out with some form of credit or ...

I don't know very much about the various conversion processes or services available, but this website seems to concur: http://www.aiconversions.com/index.html I think you may have more options on conversions with the D200 body on up than you have with a D90.

I infer that you currently use a DX camera. I have a D300 and use a 35mm f/1.8. I was going to buy a 35mm f/2 but the store was out; the 1.8 came out before they restocked. Anyway, I find the 35 somewhat limiting as a "walk-around" lens. I like being able to change my angle of view. If I were to go to China, I would definitely use a wide-to-tele zoom ( I use a 16-85) for general-purpose ...

Can someone please, please, please create a sticky somewhere for this time worn, boring and useless thread? If the OP would only take the time to search he'll find thousands, literally, of threads and answers to this. I can't be bothered to answer.

I do know what your saying, but the other argument is the tens of thousands of really good pictures taken with Canon's 17-40, 24-105, 70-200 f/4's I would take the D700, toss the 24-85 and get a few primes myself... marco1974 wrote: > For most intents and purposes, an FX camera with an f/4 zoom looks to me to be pretty much equivalent (DOF, noise, etc.) to a DX camera with an f/2.8 zoom of ...

Since I have added the ZF 100/2 Makro-Planar to my arsenal of macro lenses (AF 60/2.8D, AFS 105 VR, PC 85/2.8 & AF ED 200/4) I was thinking to swap my 105 VR for an AF 135/2 DC. In fact, I use my 105 VR mostly as general purpose medium telephoto lens, given that I have other macro lenses that outperforms it in terms of sharpness, use of ext. tubes and/or working distance. I would like to hear ...

The four examples I'll show were all shot in Prague this past May, from the tower on top of Petrin Hill, which overlooks the city. It was a cloudy day, no blue sky at all, and the shots were all made at about 11am, so the conditions, while not ideal for beautiful landscapes were actually pretty good for capturing detail. All are single-shot raw NEF captures, rendered in Lightroom, and then ...

Another thing I should of mentioned earlier - even though this is definitely in the category of "very minute differences" and perhaps into the territory of obsession about lens "drawing" slash rendering. Another thing I'll be looking at with the new zoom is the tonality and rendering. One thing the 200/2 does better than *any* other lens, even the vaunted (and much deservedly so) Zeiss 100/2 ...

Lens will work just fine. D90 will be plenty fine (more than enough resolution). Where you might run into issue at SRA3/tabloid+ size is image noise if you shoot at 3200 ISO.

B&H took my order a week or so ago and billed me. Given they are showing out or stock, I'd assume they knew how many they were going to get and have orders for them all now. I haven't got a shipping notice yet, but hopefully soon.

Have you seen the price of the Canon 70-200 F/2.8 IS? Yes the Nikon is a newer and a (bit) better lens, but the quality difference is nowhere near as big as the price difference. Here in the Netherlands the Canon 70-200 2.8 costs around 1500, the Nikon an absurd 2600! That's 75% more and based on the sample shots I've seen I feel confident enough to say that it's not 75% better... Jarno

If you want one lens for easy walk around travel shooting why not consider the 28-105 Nikon. It gives very good image quality and is small and light and very versatile. You can only get them used but worth looking round for one as it is a great little travel/walkaround lens.
