Ball Head for D90 and 70-300vr
Published (2009-11-27 02:59:00)
Im considering one of the 055 tripods as well, either the XPROB or maybe just the XB. Im looking at the 488RC2 for the head; I have the 486RC2 on a monopod and it works quite well for that but I dont think it would work well on a tripod and I also have the D90/70-300VR combo. I wish I could afford Markins Q3 Emille for the head but alsas it is well out of my limited budget at $269.99.

Many post-processing programs (Photoshop Elements, Lightroom, etc) allow you to watermark or print text on images. This is much better than doing it in camera since you can control the size, position and color of your writing. And, if you are using a DSLR you will likely want an editing program.

Its a street shot. You captured a moment. It is interesting. ak71 wrote: > Well, I cropped some cars on the right and kept the side of the building on the left to get a natural "glimpse on life" fill to it. Photos are excellent, caption, i.e. "Wild Bird," may be misleading.

I think the light (overcast) is a bit boring - but hardly your fault. What you could do, however, is adjust the curves a bit. Especially the 2nd lacks contrast, I think. You could improve the overall result if you play with the curves and make it a tad more vivid

PocketWizards. I've used both the receivers and transceivers over the past two years to control two to three monolights and they've never failed to trigger. I realize they're expensive, but in my experience it's justified.

Everybody has it with the candle part. But thought maybe someone should mention that the camera had the same settings, but not the same exposure settings. You say you were in aperture preferred, so I assume you know that the camera is picking the exposure setting for you in this mode. If you want to see if the camera exposes the same each time with the same settings, you need to go to manual and set the aperture and shutter speed both...

Lots of advice on tripods but...how will you use it? Outdoor landscapes? Indoor portraits? Macros? kajat wrote: > I am looking for a new tripod. I look forward to more! Good to see someone putting the D3000 to use after all the negativity about the thing. I think it is a good camera. Yervant wrote: > Hello all, picked up the D3000 today. That's ridiculously cheap, far below market value. I'd be suspicious.

Any piece of electronics can just die at any time for seemingly no reason. There is no reason to suspect that three D40s will all die anytime soon. I've had mine since they first came out and it has over 70,000 clicks on it. Still works great.

A lot of people seem to like the 18-105 quite a bit, so maybe it takes a couple dozen reviews to get a complete picture. About the TC on the 16-85: Nikon says don't do it. No reason is given but there could be some optical difficulties having to do with one extreme setting or the other on the zooming. Nikon has downloadable manuals on every product, so in addition to the independent reviews ...

There are opinions on both sides. I can only tell you what I do and why. I always shoot RAW. There are several reasons but the most important is RAW allows me to do more in post processing. Adjusting the white balance is trivial with RAW as is adjusting the exposure but a stop or sometimes more. I can't do those things as easily or as well with a JPEG. I use JPEGs as the final output only. ...

The best deal I can find from a reputable dealer is from Amazon. As the subject says: D90 kit w/ 18-105 (add it to the cart) 70-300 VR (add it to the cart) See 200.00 discount at checkout total: 1346.00 Can't beat it.

If you think you will have some use for it I would buy it. I wanted one for my D90/D300s but since it was so expensive I got a 70-300 for my Oly E620 which is half the price of the Nikon. I dont have a big need for it but it is nice to have anyway.
