Hello, Anyone using a Sigma EF 500 DG with their D300 ? Do you like the results? Are they as the SB-600 ? Any glitches with a D300 when set as slave where it wouldn't start in manual mode or anything like that? Thank you in advance! -- Word and Ideas CAN change the world.

It might make sense to run it through a few tests. If you secure the camera and lens to a tripod and carefully focus on something (such as some books, newspaper print, a brick wall, etc.), you can then test the sharpness at various apretures. It it isn't sharp under these conditions, you probably have a problem. Glenn BWhite wrote: > I'm begining to think the lens isn't OK. > I wasn't sure if it was my...

Droplets - inspired by Glenn

Thanks a lot! Controlling this physical flow instability is very difficult and the onset of droplets never took place where I wanted it to be. So I reduced the water supply as much as possible but such that there was still a constant stream coming out of the faucet. Then I simply knocked on the faucet. This disturbance nicely triggered the onset of turbulence. Cheers, Torsten -- http://nephilim.smugmug.com

Here are a few bird shots taken over the last 3 weekends - some Gannets at Muriwai, about 45 minutes west of Auckland, and a couple taken at Western Springs near central Auckland. All taken with D300 and 55-200mm el cheapo (non-VR) lens. . . plenty of light so no real need for VR anyway. Sometimes I forget to have fun experimenting with my D300 like I did in the film days. I guess with Photoshop it's so easy to do so many things that you (well, *I*) fall into an easy-to-use loop. I was playing with my kids and tried playing with some light trails and long exposures and took this shot. I guess it sort of works because when I showed my 5-year old son his picture he said he ...

OK, I've read over Thom Hogan's D200 book, well I skimmed over it. I've looked at the parts concerning shooting banks and bank select under the Custom Settings menu. I'm just not grasping the difference between these two. On a related note, I have a couple questions: - I'm a bit of a minimalist, I really never shoot anything other than the same settings (currently have everything set ...

My wife's 4Gb SD card (cheap one from Fry's) is unreadable by our D90, D40 or any card reader. I tried several data recovery software but none could see anything. They always report the drive is empty. If any of you have had similar failures and had a solution, I would like to hear about that. Thanks! -- Brian http://www.pbase.com/drip

There have been quite a number of discussion threads about the topic on this and other forums. Opinions seem to be very divided and while I can understand the various arguments of those who support the inclusion of video, personally, I am sympathetic to your views and would rather see it as an offering on cosumer level SLRS whilst Nikon concentrated their R&D for the pro/semi-pro range of SLRs ...

I am a D200 user. The current price is tempting, and if you stay at ISO 800 or below, or better yet, 400 and below, a good deal in my opinion. But perhaps the main reason for getting it now (given the higher price of the D300/D700) is if you want to get a body to use with all the very good pre-digital days Nikkor lenses, (AI/AI-s/AF) which does not appear to be your intent. I still use...

Hi, For exclusive Nikon, try Grays of Westminster. Expert advice, chic shop and everything Nikon with added value. Not necessarily best proice across the range, but some body prices are very competitive. Here is the bottom line question for me, a D300 owner: How much more image data in terms of resolution ( not DR, etc ) will I actually get by spreading 24+MP on a FF sensor as oposed to my present 12 MP APS-c D300 sensor? Basically how much tighter will the 24 MP FF help me crop my original image as opposed to my D300? Any help will be appreciated.
