The Canon 5D Mk II sensor http://a.img-dpreview.com/reviews/CanonEOS5DMarkII/Images/features/CMOS.jpg And just to repeat, for comparison, the D3 sensor http://press.nikonusa.com/gallery/nikon/Digital_SLR/2007/D3/images/print/D3_Cmos_1.jpg Draw your own conclusions.

The Ultimate Test For The...

Funny thing is, this guy is having a great time enjoying his wonderful D3 and the farthest thing from his mind is a "fogged" LCD. And since he realises he has the ultimate in weather sealing he's saying to himself, "No worries mate!" before taking the garden hose to it. I bet you won't see him whining in the forums!! Why no high speed sync?

DecibelPhoto wrote: > Why can't (or doesn't) Nikon offer an electronic shutter option to achieve flash shutter sync above 1/250, like the D40 does? In fact, considering that compact cameras use electronic shutters only, I don't see why we can't have sync speeds all the way up to 1/8000? You could have that. But you'd probably need to go back to CCD and you'd need to put up with the problems that electronic...

When you subtract the local tax there is NOT that much difference. Wait a few weeks and the yen/dollar ratio will make up the difference - to your disadvantage.

D3s Sensor Data - relative to D3

1.2 - 1.5+ stops improvement is also what we are seeing in real life comparision. This is great news and confirms Nikon's claim about the redesign of the sensor.

it is the flash automatically re- calibrating itself. Seriously haven't heard of this one before, be interested to hear what the cause is if you ever find out! regards Tony

I've read that on full frame FX sensors that it doesn't start affecting the image until f/16. I haven't tested this out myself, but that's what I've read on here.

hey George, guess who's D3 this was taken with??? http://marcstpierre.zenfolio.com/img/v6/p636492848 -4.jpg as was this one: http://marcstpierre.zenfolio.com/img/v7/p951585409 -4.jpg I think they were at ISO 400, but may have been at 320. Even with the D3, I typically can't stomach to go much above 400, if at all. But then again, I'm always shooting for posters (and of course billboards - not ...

That video itself hasn't swayed opinion but looking at what's possible and how media is changing, I can understand why it might be advantageous to have video capability in cameras. Personally I would still rather not have it (as I can't see myself ever using it) but I'm not a pro. Just a preference rather than a strong opinion...

The D200 is an excellent camera, I still have mine even though I have a D300 also. I have been getting some 2' x 3' prints lately and the iso 100 on the D200 produces very nice large prints, that I am very happy with. You have a nice upgrade path with Nikon if you want to stay with them, D300s, D700. You will get the larger nicer lcd, 51 point autofocus, better high iso capability, and the ...

As interesting and enlightening as usual. Although it would appear that Thom is ramping up his provocative rhetoric. With any luck, Nikon is listening carefully. It would be too much to expect a retort from them of course.

You post on Canon, 4/3rds, and then raise a dumb issue like this, and probably are a troll. Nikon contracts out it sensor manufacture - doesn't make them worse, or better. As long as the end product is great, all that matters is that Nikon exercise some design control, set the specifications, and monitor production to meet their standards. I wouldn't care if they were made by Canon, as long...

Can you please conduct a full test on all lenses from Nikon and Canon and demonstrate which lenses do categorically display light falloff. I think you are the man for this job, seriously, I doubt anyone else would have the commitment and determination for this task. Coming from a D3s release presentation in Toronto, it was said by one of the Nikon guys that they are NOT in the megapixel race... That is not to say that they might not have a higher megapixel camera (in addition to the d3x). I suspect myself that they'll have something higher comping soon as time goes by... I do not think that anyone should compare the D3s to the 5DMII... The two camera's ...

If it's in Yen, then the high percentage for D3x makes more sense; unit volume share would be lower than monetary ...
