Assuming that your exposure is good (not under) and that you shoot RAW. ISO 6400 on a D700 should be acceptable for night...

Juergen, I have no doubt in mind about that you're the brightest person in Germany. Perhaps you may never heard of NDA, but that's not a problem. People can post anything in public forums nobody will notice it. Now you started to call me names. Did this make you happy? I really hope so because I could not live with the fact that Juergen is not happy and right. You are always right, so I will do you a big favour. I come out and tell...

Is Photography Art?
Published (2009-11-13 00:01:00)
Still jdrpc, art, in and of itself, as you have stated as being art, required some human identification "as being art", correct? Art isn't a self promoting entity. To be recognized, some human had to do so. I think that I get what you are saying about a piece being art regardless. Whether someone thinks it so or not. However, without the human equation, there is no identification of that piece is there? Man, if this post...

There is no D700s because the D700 is selling just fine. Replacing a model that is selling well is not smart. Why would Nikon rush a high Mp camer with video? Do you really think the video will be better on the high Mp camera? 1081P video maybe?

I looked at many of your photos. Your landscapes are particularly impressive. How is the physical quality of the book when it is printed in terms of the photos and in terms of the binding? Sean

check out hasselblads new camera, when you center AF and recompose...your af is not spot on, usually the back of the ear is in focus, when you aimed for the eye..something about triangulation... check it out on dpreview...it explains the premise quite well......they actually have a AF formula to correct for the movement in my case i always try to use the af spots, i choose to use 11 AF spots ...

Having just browsed through the Leica S2 samples, I have mixed feelings about them. - They are for sure not bad, - Moire seems to be overall pretty well controlled, - DR seems to be good, but low ISO files are not significantly cleaner than those of the d3x, - Pixel level sharpness is good, but a correctly sharpened D3x file can appear at least as sharp and then some. Overall... I believe that...

I would set your shutter release to focus priority. You will probably have less trashcan files and more keepers going this route with AF-C.

Not sure if there is a 'correct' answer to this. I have a 24" cinema display. I have been eyeing a new imac. Seems to be a lot of computer for the price. The new imac screens are incredible. I pulled up my website at the apple store and was EXTREMELY impressed with the colors, etc.. What does this really give you....? A better user experience-and that's about it. Your prints aren't going to ...

Well, when I'm shooting in lighting conditions that need those iso's, I dont want to run the risk of losing detail. In general, I've found the D700 so forgiving, that I'd just shoot at 6400 if that's what you really want.

I think it's a bad idea to speculate what Nikon will charge, and to disclose what one would be willing to pay. What if Nikon is thinking "sell it for $2,000. (USD), and a bunch of us say we would pay twice that??? Now what will Nikon do. Lets just keep our lips zippered up on this one.

Nikon has never had a pro-digital sensor in a small body except the D700, so we don't have enough historical evidence to anticipate when (if ever) a D700x should arrive. The D200 was considered the "baby D2x" by many yet it was a 10MP CCD and not the top of the line studio CMOS of the D2x. I've owned both and the D200 was and is *not* a D2x in a small package. Better at some things (high ISO)...
