yes wages in china are disgusting but the topic here is not about them but about the arrogance of the PW prices , and that doesn't have much to do with the cost of the product (how much to make it I mean) between us (nobody is listening) come on ... 400 bucks for 2 PW? the "those idiots will buy'em anyway so let's pump the prices so we make lots of money" attitude may change, soon about the chinese stuff when I saw...

Interfit (who is just an importer), as most Chinese / Korean mfgs use the Bowens S mount what makes it the widest availible platform. AlienBees/WL though use the Balcar mount, noone else. Compatibility amongst brands is pretty restricted if you dig deeper. Elinchrom is the next frequently used mount...by some Indian and Chinese mfg. See e.g. Calumet Genesis.

You are one sick puppy. I did buy the best value for a manual trigger from a respectable source at the time I purchased, CyberSync. I'm happy to place you on my permanent ignor list. You're an irrational and unnecessarily argumentative man.

However, some photogs make a name for themselves with that *style* On the last image, the position of her foot makes it look like she has just two toes, not a dainty foot with five. Yes, she was standing outside in a relatively shaded area, as was the bride. Lighting was pretty even, as there was no appreciable direct light, comparable to an overcast day. Once flattened, the image as a whole was ran through Lucis Arts, giving it a cartoon appearance. -proudfather

Hmmm, how can I put this nicely? Let's just say I'm not in love with these photos. In image #1, the focus is off. It looks to be on the tip of her nose, instead of here eyes, where it should be. The image is pretty soft all over. Also, I find the lip piercing to be very distracting (I realize it's the in thing these days, but she's a very pretty girl and it distracts from her eyes). If you're bouncing flash off the ceiling, I hope you're increasing FEC. Otherwise the shutter speed will be slower. Handheld, that means more blur... unless you're still around 1/125 or higher. Bouncing flash shouldn't soften details. It simply evens out the light on the subject and adds ambient. Can't really tell you what's wrong without a sample pic.

Hello, Hope you are well. The angle in the second shot is very nice. Try putting the SB900 in the alcove to the left and bounce off the ceiling about midway down the table. Put the SB600 on top of the china cabinet on the right closest to the camera angled bounce off ceiling towards windows. Or, instead of a bounce from the ceiling from the SB900 in the alcove, try a sheet over the alcove...

Impossible to tell, especialy without without seeing the photos - but Nikon's metering system is not keen on blowing highlights. Maybe the white patches on the kid's outfit made the meter tone down the scene?

and not strobes, I would get the umbrellas. Umbrellas are cheep, and it is hard to fill a soft box with a speed light. Also, if you get into lighting, you will buy strobes, the umbrellas will work with them, you will need new shoeboxes for the strobes. Stat with a shoot through, or convertible like you have on the link.

Hi, Nice pics! Underexposed? Yes. " Should I have brought flash compensation to +1 if I didn't want to have to fix them in PP? " Probably yes. With ETTL/Autoflash you often have to tune flash exposure with FEC anything up to a stop. Remember that bouncing (especially behind you) really eats speedlite power/range. (Also check for colour casts.) I think you were right to use iso 800 or even ...
