S5 pro ,D300 or D90 ?

> I own a S3 pro So you have the wide DR base nicely covered - I'd add a faster high rez body to that then - maybe an end of line D80 or D200 to be cost conscious ? .. If you have to spend on a 12Mp I'd get the D300 as according to the review here they seem to have put a heavier AA filter in the D90 making it softer and you'd lose the PRO AF and fast FPS for not a great deal of saving.. -- ** Please ignore the Typos,...

What a marvelous-looking area! One can assume you are above tree-line... Are there any critters who live underground? The musk oxen look like something George Lucas created. You don't see much of that in the Western USA. Nice series and what looks to be a great hike. When I have time I will look at your 360 panos. Glad to see you're back. My way: 1-create aduplicate layer 2-desaturate top layer 3- set it to layer mode "color" 4-use "hue/saturation" sliders to influence color rendition 5-flatten layers It is like using color filters like in the old days of film. Ok, it turns out Andy or Claypaws pretty much already answered this for me before and I didn't quite get it. Thanks to some input from the Jao on the Adobe Forums I finally have it together in my head. Basically the profile generated by the Spyder is used for 2 things: 1) It's used to load the graphics card LUT tables to *try* to compensate for the gamma and color. But that fix is incomplete...

See my D3 vs. 1Ds3 vs. a900 test and discussion: http://www.flickr.com/photos/genotypewriter/301224 7230/ The a900 is so noisey, even when it was resized to 12MP, it was noiser than the 1Ds3 at 21MPs. To add further insult, the a900 shot was more exposed than the other two! The numbers speak for themselves. GTW -- http://www.flickr.com/genotypewriter Image control: Zoom ...

Yes, I am a little confused at to the choice of kit lens on the D700..a relatively poor performer and certainly not coming near the performance capable from the D700 body. Apart from the high iso I have little doubt better performance at "standard" iso's would be available from the D300/S5 with a 17/55 F2.8?

Interesting. My experience at American art/crafts shows is that color photography rules the roost, although within the more "serious" art world, this might not be the case. Ia BIG Fuji fan, and they have a very strange pollicy regarding DSLR's, they always launched only 1 model and i found it always more than competitive, but now we do have some serious improvments at Nikon and Canon, they got to do something like a revolcution, as they did before to keep on the DSLR marked. My next step would be a Nikon D700,bye to fuji at the moment, but id never sell my ...

This myth is usually taken for granted as self-evident truth. It is sometimes expressed in terms of surprise when someone who frequently changes lenses is surprised not to have a dust problem. Or when an infrequent lens changer is plagued by sensor dust. I want to slay that myth ruthlessly. Sensor dust has *absolutely nothing* to do with changing lenses. Unfortunately, this myth is so ...

Just wait....Nikon offer some great models already...if you have Nikon glass just wait until next week when they announce new models... Fact is just changing systems all the time will not make for a better photographer....it's the down side of digital...creating desire in the market on a continuous basis to sell product.. One year Canon will have the lead in spec, the next, Nikon, etc......

The sensor is 3024x2016 for "S" pixels (detail) with set of smaller pixels ("R" pixels, also 3024x2016). You can multiply 3024x2016 to work out the native resolution. The "R" pixels don't contribute to resolution at all, there are for dynamic range. -- -Andy Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/andydrake

If someone testing the S5 from the dealers shelf (or the dealer themselves) has put a card in from an S3 or S9600 etc which had files on then the counter will start at that point so a brand new S5 with 0 actuations can have a ludicrous number of shots on the first firing Just an alternative thought on the matter -- ** Please ignore the Typos, I'm the world's worst Typist ** Image...
