I just received a 15-85IS from Amazon and it has unacceptable CA near edges in a number of shots. I'd hear there were QC issues with this lens and now I believe it. But I'll get another one tomorrow. I hope it's better since this one has far worse CA than my lowly 18-200IS walkaround which I planned for the 15-85 to replace. It's even worse than the 17-85 I sold some time ago -- and the reviews say it should be markedly...

The Tennessee Agriculture museum is a 10 minute walk from my office. The cabins I've shown so often are part of the museum. So, applying much I've learned here on this forum: 40D with 15-85 ISO: 100 Exposure: 2.0 sec Aperture: 7.1 Focal Length: 21mm...

That lip-biting kiss is a wonderful capture. I was becoming disenchanted with lip-locking smooches. Chris is right that the boy with the soccer [I thought that word was not used in Europe] t shirt adds to the composition. I can make a strong argument, also, for the pedestrians, cafes, building in the bkg. I am broad minded enough to listen to the reason for the blue Eurocar, which does bring out the blue in the lovers' garments. But am I...

That is quite an impressive lens, especially on the 5D MKII... Where can I get this lens adapter? To be honest I'm mostly interested in the 21mm f/2 (look forward to a write up on that)... I take it that lens is also a OM Zuiko? Any idea where I could get one of those, and about how much would it set me back? Also do you got focus confirmation when manually focusing the lens? Do you have to set...

If I take a head & shoulders shot at 70mm f/2.8 and I take another one by walking away going 200mm f/2.8 which one will have more background blur? Are they just as powerful at the same aperture? If it is an EF mount it can be used with a Canon DSLR. But you may or may not be pleased with the results. I had a Tamron 28-200 or 28-300 purchased in 1993 and used with my Canon film SLR. I was happy with it for 35 mm slides, but when I later tried it on my Canon DSLR (probably a digital Rebel at the time) I was not pleased with the results nor the focusing speed. YMMV.

I've never used the 17-85, so I can't give you a direct comparison. I can tell you that the 24-105 is a terrific lens. It's very sharp and contrasty, and the IS is superb. It's on my 50D most of the time. When I want to travel light, I take only the 24-105 and the 10-22. They make a great pair.

to each his own. if people want to think ahead and take not as good pictures right now so that they can save a coupe grand in the future, what do you care? to me, it depends on the upgrade timeline. last fall, I was torn between the 17-40 and 17-55 (or whatever) f/2.8.
