I am having the same problem so I did a search and found this thread. I guess I will install my disk that came with my camera. However, I think I have another problem. I have Photoshop CS and I don't think I can use the raw files in CS. I have looked for the Camera Raw update for the XTi and it says it's for CS2 and above. Does anyone know if this is the case? (I've had this camera for a while ...

Hi - they look great although a bigger version would get across the grandeur better. The liner shot looks superb. -- Canon 40D, Canon 450D, 18-55mmIS, 50mm f1.8, 28-105mm F3.5, 24mm f2.8, 55-250mm. Fuji F30

Financial belt tightening is no fun but for many of us necessary once or more in life; I certainly know what that is like. At one point, I took lots of film pics, but couldn't afford to take them in to get them developed with prints; I still have many rolls years old sitting around the house. I think you will be very impressed with the Xsi, it's definitely the best of the three SLR/DSLR Canon...

> rjx: well yeah why not , I can buy an extra battery or 2 with 40$ Why not? because that would come down to about $5 per week. And thats 8+ weeks you could have and enjoy a DSLR. All those moments you will encounter from now until then that you will miss out on.

the lens is never long enough for bird photography--- but i would be very happy if i had managed these shots of the roseate spoonbills-- i would be quite happy just to see them actually -- i am beginning to suspect that those who say i have snapped are not referring to my photography.

I just got my first SLR - a Canon XS (+ 55-250 IS lens). I took it outdoors for the first time yesterday and there was a lot of birds flying around at the pond. I managed to take a lot of photos of birds taking off, landing, soaring, etc. Unfortunately most were pretty soft and some were downright blurry. The focus light would pick the right point and track the bird, so I think I have the ...

Bought the EF-S 17-55 when my baby girl was born about 16 weeks ago and I must say it's the best money I've spent in a long time. Can't really use flash with a new born and pretty much all pictures taken so far have been inside with low light - with great results. My wife snapped this inside, late afternoon today, with daylight fading. I lightened it up a bit and resized it with GIMP but that'...

So below are two pictures I took essentially with the same settings. F 4.0, 1/60, ISO 400 with the flash on. The first I can understand why my son on the right is clearly in focus and my nephew is not since my nephew is definitely closer to the lens. However, in the second picture, with f 4.0 I guess I don't know why the person on the right is OOF when they are sitting side by side. Is f 4.0...

So for f/8: #1 focal length 20mm, assuming 2 m focusing distance, DOF 1,14m to 8m #2 focal length 14mm, assuming 1 m focusing distance, DOF 0,53m to 4,23 m, still not enough. I still didn't get, what is the difference in both shots, as to AF point placement and related focus quality, both points are red, so focus is achieved.. Maybe the lens is softer at 14mm ? Please ignore this post ...

Oh, I just found out that the same eBay store sells the latter battery grip with two after-market "high capacity" batteries for $61: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item =180294119087 The Canon battery that came with my EOS-350D is rated at 7.4V/720mAh while those after-market batteries are 7.4V/900mAh. I see that the first grip I mentioned comes with a built-in 7.4V/2100mAh ...

Greetings, I am amazed at the response to Night Photography with a wide selection of great images submitted. Quoting from my initial post, I will be judging on: creativity and impact of the photo, composition, and technical elements. There were many images that demonstrated well some these features and a smaller number that contained all four of them. Please pardon me for taking so ...

Try using Center Weighted Metering. I know some people don't like it for whatever reason but when I was using evaluative metering I was getting lots of results just like yours. I have now started shooting using center weighted metering only and the shots are 100% better. It is like night and day difference. You are also using evaluative metering to shoot moving objects which I also found to be ...
