Usually, it takes some unpleasant, tiresome exchanges before I finally realize a fellow DPR user is so uninteresting and/or obnoxious as to actually warrant a very rare action from me: To gray his/her name out in my threads view. You've managed to achieve it with this single contribution. PK

Hi Vince, Thanks for the photos my friend -- I especially like number 3. Oh and don't take some of the negative things folks may say personally. I get it from time-to-time. You'll always find one that wants to squeeze a lemon. Keep shooting and sharing and if you can, give us some of the settings used in your captures. We all learn from one another, and knowing the settings (exif) helps "some" of us have a better...

5d Mark 3 really?
Published (2009-12-02 23:30:00)
I know what you're getting at but then why is it that the 5D and 5DMKII have been so popular? If the AF is as bad as you paint it surely the models would not sell. Yet pros and amateurs alike have taken to these models in such vast numbers why would Canon feel inclined to change, granted they probably will in the near future. It's certainly worked for them irrespective of what the naysayers have protested about. Zoooming MM1 wrote:...

Another 7D v. 5DmkII Question

...I appreciate and look forward to your pics. I'm seriously considering a 7D after a brief tryout. I love the viewfinder, love the responsiveness, love the new AF...just not quite sold on how much use I'll get out of the APS-C sensor with my existing lenses (17-40/4L, 50/1.4 and 100/2).

Does MKIII have C1,2,3 wheel?

I shoot a lot of subjects that include snow and it is tricky in several ways. One, of course, is that you can't trust your automatic exposure if shots including large expanses of snow - the camera wants to move them towards ND gray. On the other hand, it shots with just a little snow these areas can easily blow out if you aren't careful. Color is another major issue. Everyone "knows" that snow is white. But lit snow is...

OK, then you agree that this Canon's ability to set upper and lower limits on ISO, Aperture, and Shutter speed, all at the same time while in manual mode is the most versatile implementation yet for Auto ISO, and Nikon...

It's called whatever I want to call it. I apologize if that momentarily confuses you into thinking there was another version of 5D somewhere. Be pedantic if you like. I'll be out shooting with my 5D Mark II Prequel.

Something to check out, since the dioptric adjustment on the camera is reaching its limits with my old eyes. I've never had a problem with the eyecup breaking, though. Lost a couple, but never broke one. I wonder if the one on the diopter...

I wanted to post some pics but my PC is still in the repair shop----Vista 64-bit blues (can't recognize any of my external hard drives). It's a royal pain to pp in a slow laptop. As soon as I get my PC I will pp some and reply to this thread. Jose Kabe Luna wrote: > would you mind posting a 100% of a skin and hair detail with the 7D after sharpening and NR, please? I don't know if it's an indicator but DPP w/ 5D2raw decoder was available about a month before the cameras release. No sign of DPP for the Mk4 yet. Ascough noted he had a beta version, but that's it so far.

If I could get a MkIII for $1700 I would jump on it, worst case you could sell it for more, its only draw back is the lower resolution, all in all a much better camera though. Ross

we could never choose for you but could sugest collecting the data ie go find out what are the percentages of shots taken within: 24-70 , 70-200 and 200- beyond. by doing this you will get an understanding of where you yourself stand. I have three lens I would never scale back to one may ramp up to four soon...

the flowers look ok. I don't think you are supposed to get creative with wedding photos, you are supposed to make the bride look good, and the groom look sober. Also, I don't think you need lightroom to do this to a photo, I think you could do it with a photocopier and a dot matrix printer. I don't mean this in a cruel way, I'm certain your other work would please me.

But I'm sure more than one person will complain about "edge and corner sharpness" which I always find baffling since I never put my subject in the corner or on an edge. But you know how those silly pixel-peepers can be :) Stopping this lens down to the middle or smallest aperatures is a good idea too but then again, it's pretty much a Landscape lens so why wouldn't one be stopping down anyway?...

Outstanding image Frank that was well deserving of the win. You did a great job with all your entries as did so many other people. Thanks to everyone who participated in the Duotones challenge. It know I learned a lot with the topic and expect others did too. To me that's a plus when you can not only have a little fun but learn too. It has been great seeing the participation grow with each ...

Brilliant, but would be even better by correcting the level (I find the slight tilt towards the right to be a distraction).

Not too surprising, no. The size of a RAW file is also proportional to the amount of noise in it (the more the noise, the harder it is for the compression algorithms to do their work). Purely because of the comparative size of the pixels the 7D is going to be noisier at a given ISO setting (though the apparent difference may not be huge). What are the discussions and who is confirming that there is going to be a 5D MKIII? There was a room for 5D MKII as a replacement for 5D Original and the same way there is going to be a room for MKIII to replace MKII. It will happen sometime.... Enjoy your 5D MKII:-) Dan_Fry wrote: > I just bought the new 5d mark 2 camera and I'm actually still waiting for it's arrival but there is talk of ...

Well, the improvements in video (mainly different fps) are on their way... January I thought it was. I don't think you can expect a mkIII to arise in 2010, my guess is september 2011. That looks like a great shot! Too bad the football player got in the way and ruined it :). Don't fret too much, I have done the same thing, only I thought the USM was broken. I too wanted to blame the design of the lens, but the end of the day, it is not the arrow it is the Indian. Good luck to you.

You would trade a semi pro full size sensor DSLR for a toy? I understand the attraction of the GF-1 and will probably pick one up as a jacket pocket camera/toy when the 20mm lens is reasonably available but it could never replace my 5DII, 1DIII, or even my two G-10s!

I would think a Canon EF800MM F/5.6 would also suit your needs along with a new 1Dmk4. We also posted one of these "What to take deals" for the Maldive Islands and its a no brainer for me. It wil lbe a EF800MM and hopefully my new 1DMK4 will be ready for pickup by then.. cheers, rtw
