Help: Canon 5D II or Nikon D700
Published (2008-11-15 20:19:54)
for this great opportunity to express their dismay, anger, sense of being 'betrayed', frustration, or whatever, when they witnessed more and more people are considering other alternatives instead of just getting stuck with Canon. I don't think there's anything too wrong with Canon to be frank, however it's plain funny to see all the fan-boys jumping around, swearing with so much close-to-religion passion to defend a...

How many ISO has the human eye?
Published (2008-11-21 04:00:45)
You guys are comparing X amount of seconds of exposure to a split second view that the eye derives on the fly. How would those same exposures look at 1/250 second, ISO 100, f8? You simply cannot make a fair comparison between long exposures, wide open apertures and high ISOs versus the human eye. Dave --

Thankfully the new compact SX1 will go on sale before the 5dmk2, that way I'll be able to check out the theoretical superior video performance of that model before deciding if an slr video cam is worth all the hassle! Alot of people should consider an sx1 for video as complimentary to the 5dmk2, the superior dof and is will be all to evident am sure for general videoing!

Right on schedule, Canon Japan has announced the EOS 5D Mark II will release to retailers on Saturday November 29. Body and lens kit ship same day along with accessories. Focus screens won't ship until mid-December: http://cweb.canon.jp/camera/eosd/5dmk2/ Translation from dc.watch, the dates auto-translate funny, don't worry, the Japanese actually says November 29, not June 29! http...

5D II exposure durability is 150 K. I believe that number is when doing photos. How about video ? I mean 150,000 frames are short time for a 30 fps video. 150,000 divided by 30 is 5,000 sec or 83 minutes ! I DO NOT believe that's the shutter life when using video mode. So, what is the shutter life for video mode ? -- Brian

Except.. if you peruse actual speed test sites, eg.. http://robgalbraith.com/bins/camera_multi_page.asp ?cid=6007-9257 for Jpegs, write times faster than 8x are relegated to not too many cards.. and those that do are certainly "rated' much faster than 64x. I chose the Jpeg column, seeing as how video format, I would guess, is similarly a compressed and non-Raw format (requiring some ...

Might as well use money while it still has value... There is no absolute proof of a depression, it is certainly a "Deep Recession" or a "Popped Bubble." The access road is always closed, due to weather. I normally recommend the North Rim (instead of South) to photographers, mostly because it's more relaxing and less crowded. But the South Rim has its own charms, especially for first time tourists with families, and the photo ops are - well, you know. I live near Sedona (awww), and if time permitted, it would be a gorgeous quick stop. But ...
