Burning DVD problems

> Could it be the dvds? Yes it could. DVD-R are more compatible than DVD+R. Also be sure to use high quality DVD's. Brands like Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim arethe best. Stay away from brands like Fuji and Memorex. Be mindful that some older DVD players just don't work well with any form of burned DVD so that could be a factor as well. ~jr www.johnrofrano.com www.vasst.com

Weird problem in Sony Vegas.
Published (2009-11-30 04:32:00)
The only time I had this problem is when I changed the desktop display to a larger font size than the default setting on my 24" monitor (1920 x 1200) and old tired eyes :-)

Are you working with Vegas 9Pro and DVDA Pro 4.5? Then you can get a free update to DVDA Pro 5.0. The difference between DVD Architect NTSC Video Stream” and “DVD Architect NTSC WIDESCREEN Video Stream is the pixel/aspect ratio, which determines whether you are working in widescreen or not. Choose the one that fits with your footage AND your project settings (which I assume is widescreen). About the AC3: tjis is what terry Esslinger...

Mike, Yes! just down the 401! I've just checked out Tiger. 300 is way more than I need. I'll call them to see if they have smaller units. From what John says, I should stay away from the Value Line though. I'm assuming it's easy to recognize these. Big Value line written on the pkg?

In that case, get the music directly from the CD. Windows Media Player can do that job, and I'm sure there are many, many other ways to extract audio from a CD. Sound Forge, for example, can easily extract all the tracks from a CD. Both of these options will deliver much higher quality audio, and Vegas will work with them.

Thank you Mike. I actually purchased 2 external drives last month, Seagate Free Agent Portable Drive 320GB, and My Passport Essential 320GB. I was getting ready to go on vacation with my laptop and dreaded the thought of losing my Vegas project so I bought the drives for backup purposes only. I will do everything you suggested and see how it goes. Our family is about to eat our turkey in an hour and I cannot tell you how much happier I am...

Later that same night..... I thought I had things under control but I'm now confused. The camera original footage (Canon HF100) as far as I know is 1920 X 1080 60i. Media player shows it as 1920 X 1080. However, Vegas properties claims it is 1440 X 1080. If I set the project properties to 1440 X 1080 with 1.3333:1 pixels, the image is compressed horizontally. If I set it to square ...

What codec does the audio files use and do you have that codec installed? If the audio is AC3 Vegas will not allow you to drop it on the timeline. You'll have to convert it to a WAV or other file that Vegas can edit. ~jr www.johnrofrano.com www.vasst.com

I;m not sure why you are using a CBR, VBR should be fine and if you have enough room on a DVD for that. If you are planning on using menus and such, download a bitrate calculator to find out your settings. There will be a minimum, average and top setting in the video settings. Good luck! gotscottgreen

Vegas Pro 9.0c works fine on Windows 7. What is a "capture thumbnail clip"? Is this an image sequence? Have you loaded it before but it doesn't work now? I'm not clear on what you are trying to do or how you are trying to do it. ~jr www.johnrofrano.com www.vasst.com

You can do so much with Vegas Pro that I don't see why you would need more FX. What you can't do, best to do with After FX. But then again it's just my opinion.

When your edited project is ready chose file> render as: Choose "save as type" Main Concept MPEG2: Use 'template' DVD Archetect NTSC Video Stream: No audio will be rendered and the 'custom button' should be available at this point. Choose the 'custom' button and then click on the video tab and set your desired bit rate. Anything under 70 minutes I would recommend CBR 8,000...

You won't want to render to the flash drive; at least in my case I've seen corruption in doing so. But I have delivered masters of commercial pieces on a thumb drive, just giving it to the client. They also later receive a disc archive, and we archive to a spun up HDD system. Douglas Spotted Eagle VASST Certified Sony Vegas Trainer Aerial Camera/Instructor

I've done it both ways and never had any issues using a USB external drive. If you don't feel comfortable doing it this way, copy all the files to both machines and then, assuming you don't add any new files, all you need is the veg file.
