You're going to need a bunch more that that. Especially since it's best in FCP to capture in ProRes, not HDV. Personally, I'd go with 1 TB at the very least. But am I off base? I sure could be. What kind to get, and what about monitoring? I don't put systems...

What other software do you normally run? What applications to you like to keep open a lot? For example, After Effects can use up to 4 GB per core in its Multiprocessing mode... and you don't want to starve the operating system or any other applications you have open at the same time, either. basically here are my main considerations. - This will be a long project, months of shooting - I will be doing some color correction and motion graphics in post - I need to be able to store and backup whatever file types i end up editing in hopefully in under 4TB of space. As i think i can only add 2 more Hard drives to my PC on top of the 2TB storage i already have....

Hey Shawn, I don't have any actual experience with a cross platform workflow, but I know that it's a fairly simple process to rewrap CineForm files back and forth between .avi and .mov for going between Mac and PC. Transcoding to CineForm would be my suggestion for dealing with AVCHD anyways. The format's 10-bit 4:2:2, and essentially visually lossless, so no worries about quality loss....

I had thought I also had the problem with the camera and usb cable but that was my error: unfamiliarity with the camera. I didn't realize one must hold down the mode button for two seconds to ...
