Pietro - I take it that you're having issues with a Matrox RT2500 running Premiere 6.5 on an HP xw8600. Maybe someone else here can help you ... I confess that I am lost! Or can you get someone to translate to/from English for you? Thanks! Regards, Lyn Norstad Chicagoland, USA Co-host of CreativeCOW forums: Matrox Video Systems Leitch dpsVelocity

No, the MAX hardware uses it's own specific H264 hardware codec/component (hence the speed), so its not quite a straight 'same as Compressor but with MAX speed' thing, but rather a target compatible preset that uses the MAX hardware thing. If the.MOV extension is messing with your CMS you could just duplicate the preset you use and set the Extension in the Inspector window's Encoder tab to "m4v". Should be good...

Thanks Lyn- So I'll be able to control my Sony DSR80 deck (non firewire) direct through CS4 eh with the RS422 cable interface? Very cool. If handy...is there some link etc. on Adobe PrP that explains configuration of the serial port for PrP to recognize the serial port connected to the USB port? I've got no dedicated RS232 serial port so I was looking at the addenda electronics USB to RS422 cable...$68 + S&H...

That's a pretty impressive system. Wish I could afford it. I did upgrade to a a triple channel mobo and 12Gb RAM. I have a 60Gb SSD for my OS. Do you know if CS4 plays nice with SSD tech? Also, I'll have two 1.5Tb internal drives in RAID config...but not sure which RAID set up to use...is RAID 1, 5, or 0 the best for my media drives? Sometimes I wonder if it's just not better to go non-RAID and manually back-up the files after...

[Tony Breuer] "I gather you were referring to consumer HDTV monitors." Well, my Panasonic is part of the Pro Plasma line, not consumer. HDMI I had to get separate, and it doesn't have built in speakers. The other one was a consumer TV. I HIGHLY recomment the Panasonic Pro Plasmas. Hi Mick, Glad you found the tutorial useful. The Matrox and Black Magic cards aren't going to play together. If you capture with Intensity, those files will not work with RT.X2, and vice versa. I just ran a web search for "Premiere CS4 serial deck control" and found a wealth of info. Adobe info says: "Use the Pipeline Digital ProVTR cable for RS-232/422-controlled devices". So I would check out Pipeline Digital for...

Well yeah. I posted for those who already own a Mini and don't have an MXO2 or LE but find themselves with the need. The adapter could provide a solution to capture TC and get deck control from an industrial deck. Bill Bill

I assume we talking about the MAX compressor presets here Jim ... no, I don't think you are missing anything. Do you find you particularly need to be able to save your movies with an m4v filename extension?

I'm pretty sure that Dell monitor needs a 1920x1200 RGB input but that the MXO will be putting out 1920x1080, and you've probably set it to a YUV output too ... if so, you can try changing your FCP Video Playback setting to the equivalent MXO2 RGB output setting, but if its still not recognized then I think you're stuck with Component I'm afraid.
Let us know how you go.

Hey Bill, looks like no one else is having a bash at this one so I'll be glad to offer what advice I can, but please bear in mind that I live and work in the 50Hz world (and always have), so whilst I'm comfortable advising folks on 25 and 50 frame/field per second workflows, I am more in theory land rather than personal experience land when it comes to 24/30/60 drop/non-drop frame/field per ...

Sorry Marcel ... don't think MXO / Snow Leopard compatibility is happening on Matrox's timetable, I think we're waiting probably waiting for a Snow Leopard Graphics Update or similar from Apple. Hard to guess when that will happen.

There may be several things you should change, but for starters, I would recommend:
1) Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
2) Dual processors
3) More RAM
4) Possibly upgrading the GPU card
5) Consider the Matrox MAX option (or the CompressHD card)
That is, if you're really serious about real time ... and you want a system that will have some longevity.

Hi Jim, Just your usual BNC cable is fine...There is no special MXO2 cables to be used.
As for your other question; The MXO2 allows you to output audio over SDI along with your video (this is called embedded audio), or if you want you can configure it to output video only over SDI and then take the XLR, RCA, or AES/EBU audio out.
Hope this answers your questions...

If you are using RS422 deck control, the MXO 2 LE or the MXO 2 are better options.
As an alternate to the product you mention, the Keyspan USB Serial Converter has been around for years.
You are not capturing the highest quality possible when capturing via a DV converter.
