Focus FS-H200 CF Recorder
Published (2009-12-13 14:23:00)
Just wanted to add this to my post above. The only thing that bugs me is the CF cards fit almost all the way into the unit, and they fit very snug, which is a good thing. They also have a nice rubber cover that protects them. The bad thing is, it's really tough to get the out! I actually had to very carefully use a leatherman to grab the end of the card to pull it out. All they need to do is bevel the slot a bit to give you more room to...

What I did was just load the HDVsplit app into a HDVsplit directory in the ProgramFiles(x86);directory, I would get rid of the DVHS driver and the fddshowdecoder if you have loaded them and just run the HDVsplit app by itself.

Thanks for responding i use cs4 version of premiere. Now i captured data in mpeg fomat through firewire, and same footage i acquired through aspect hd in avi format, there is too huge difference mpeg file has disastrous levels of grains and avis are crystal clear. so if it is already mpeg in tape then how come a avi file is of god quality

Sony 270u
Published (2009-12-09 04:00:00)
Hello Everyone, Hope all is well and business is good. I own Sony's hvr 270u camera. It records to tape and compact flash simultaneous. I was wondering if anyone has found a way to log and transfer from the compact flash card into Final Cut Pro as Apple ProRes. I can only log and transfer as hdv. I want to be able to edit in ProRes but I am stuck with hdv unless I upload real time from the tape. It defeats the purpose of the compact...

Hi, I need to buy a camcorder to work making corporative videos, some cheap documentaries and social events and I was thinking of getting de z7, wich I love, but now I've seen that Sony NXCAM will be released soon, and I don't know wich one would be better for me to get. What do you recommend? Does anybody know anything about nxcam prices? Thank you

HDV uses MPEG-2 compression at 25Mbps, the same data rate used by DV video, so yes it is highly compressed on tape. Some HDV cameras will output an uncompressed signal via HD-SDI or HDMI during live shooting, so this signal could be captured to a laptop or other setup with high quality only while shooting live. Just remember, once recorded to HDV tape, the video has been compressed. ...

well, sending native HDV encodes can obviously be faster than shipping assuming you have reasonable bandwidth ... these days though I tend to suggest unscaled h.264 for ftp delivery

Does your Sony Camera have a "re-initalize button? Very small hole whith a button in it. My HVR-a1 does. Sounds like you got a setting in the camera changed. Resetting it to it's default settings should fix it.

You mentioned NOTHING about what program you will be editing in? Different programs will have different options of how to best do this. What will you be editing with? There are no "technical solutions" to your "artistic problems". Don't let technology get in the way of your creativity!
