change color of individual clones

I think the step you're missing is to set the effector (either color or random) to affect color in the parameters tab. You won't get a reliable preview in the editor, so it's best to use the interactive region render window when adjusting.

One more thing...you don't need the shader effector or the 2nd random effector. Just use the random effector you called "color effector" and on the Effector tab, set the Random Mode to "Sorted" Then all the colors show.

Hi Adam, I think I already have that set. I've attempted to upload the project here: 403_ipodnanoanimation.c4d.zip if you have the chance to look at it. The colors are pretty close to what I want, but there's 2 shades of red and 2 shades of blue on 4/6 iPods. www.timbowen.com

Texture Error

Hi Joseph, I've done a little experimenting with this topic lately, and hopefully my findings will assist you. In order to bring a movie into Cinema4D, try the following: 1 - Create a new material 2 - Disable the color and specular channels 3 - Enable the luminence channel 4 - Click on the "..." button for your luminence channel to add an image 5 - Navigate to the first image in your image sequence (assuming you have made an...

64 vs 32 maybe (that's just a guess). Try exporting the movie to a series of tiffs or jpegs and use that instead... I'd have to see the .mov to make a guess otherwise.

Just got off the phone with Maxon Tech support and they are aware of Thinking Particles not behaving properly in a network rendering environment....and ya know what?....They have no intention of fixing that! Hate to say this but I just lost some respect for Maxon. They want me to buy MoGraph to solve this issue.... a wonderful marketing scheme to get me to shell out more dough (rolling eyes). I'll take an extra few days and render it on...

Oh, I hadn't thought of that. I'll look at the options in the Bamboo software. It has its own crazy software. It's just kind of odd, because the Bamboo acts perfectly normal with every other app besides C4D, and it doesn't do this on the Mac version either.

What version of Cinema are you using and on what platform? Also 32 or 64 bit? You could try using image sequences instead of movies. There have been some problems in the latest update of Cinema with using .mov for textures on 32 bit systems.

Hey Jasic, well to me both videos seem to be identically, with no chopping edges. I had a similar problem once, but it had nothing to do with frame-rates (25fps is standard for PAL, 30fps for NTSC systems, if you don't want to add slow-motion effects afterwards. then you should perhaps use a multiple framerate of your standard). Well, back to the choppy edges problem: The Quicktime player...

Trev, Just put a compositing tag on the cloner object....and in the render settings click on Multi-Pass drop-down and select object buffer. Save out your multi-pass render and your regular pass render...when it renders out the scene it will make a special pass for the cloner object that you can then use in your compositing program. Hope that helps! Chris Regards, Chris ...

EEEK! I hate it when Illustrator and C4D don't play nice... The only thing I can think of is making sure your path direction is set properly. I believe there is an option in Cinema to "set first point" or something to that effect. Perhaps it's just confused as to the direction of the path. Also, if you're applying a bevel to your extruded curve, be sure to set it to a low value first, ...

Yes, its best to render them as image sequences (stills). You can play and convert image sequences in most software including quicktime, Avid, After effects, Final Cut pro, Motion, Shake, Combustion ... For quick test renders there is no reason not to render quicktime or AVI but for the full res longer renders I would stick to image sequences. /Randy

Hi Rob, The HDRI image should be applied to a sky or sphere (surrounding the scene). Select the sky object, add a compositing tag which in C4D 9.6 is under File> Cinema 4D tags> Compositing. Once the tag is applied, click on the icon to the right of the object, then in the properties window below, check off seen by camera. Hope that makes sense, and helps.. -Tim www.timbowen.com
