Nah but seriously, my co-worker has a Focus with intake, headers, exhaust, etc. Thing has sm. kine powa. She's supa loud though. And still
pretty slow if you ask me.

i good transmission with upgrade parts will last a long time with proper care. no such thing as junk trans unless the owner abused it. there are known parts in some GM trans that are known to be weak but there are a lot of upgraded parts for most transmisions.

Try a carb with 4 corner idle, you'll be a lot happier with a real tuneup. The E-carb is great, for daily drivers with mild cams and compression. Nowhere near as easy to tweak as something with 4 corner idle circuits. I like the Demon carbs. Once you get past the
machining chips in the bowls, they're great.

you might want to look into this club/forum. some of the guys in there are quiet talented and know their stuff. if u check out their for sale/internet deals section, u'll prob get some good opinions of the cars on CL. if u do get one, definitely check out the club.
