I've done a couple of those swaps. Don't buy the Hooker shorty headers, the passenger side dumps right towards the lower control arm rear bushing, really close. Best exhaust I used was the old Edelbrock tubular exhaust system, fit real nice. You going to use a TPI setup, or carb? Need to run a bypass regulator for a carb setup if you want to keep the in tank pump. No V6 trans will fit, they are all 60° bellhousing patterns. Gotta...

Nah but seriously, my co-worker has a Focus with intake, headers, exhaust, etc. Thing has sm. kine powa. She's supa loud though. And still pretty slow if you ask me.

you might want to look into this club/forum. some of the guys in there are quiet talented and know their stuff. if u check out their for sale/internet deals section, u'll prob get some good opinions of the cars on CL. if u do get one, definitely check out the club.
i remem seeing a yellow cobra, around that yr, being towed by the shack in mililani.

i good transmission with upgrade parts will last a long time with proper care. no such thing as junk trans unless the owner abused it. there are known parts in some GM trans that are known to be weak but there are a lot of upgraded parts for most transmisions.
