i got a th400 in my impala... beast for an auto. but sadly I prefer stick. you should just stick with what you got. if you do a swap there probably will be fitment issues etc. and it would serve no purpose unless youre building a beast of a motor.

If you're planning on getting a Regal, and if it's a TR or GN, they're pretty stout trans' in stock form. I was running a stock one, going low 11's, with over 120000 miles. I'm now running a Th400 built to run in the 8's. If it's mainly a street car, I'd stick with the 200-4r for the OD.

i good transmission with upgrade parts will last a long time with proper care. no such thing as junk trans unless the owner abused it. there are known parts in some GM trans that are known to be weak but there are a lot of upgraded parts for most transmisions.

Try a carb with 4 corner idle, you'll be a lot happier with a real tuneup. The E-carb is great, for daily drivers with mild cams and compression. Nowhere near as easy to tweak as something with 4 corner idle circuits. I like the Demon carbs. Once you get past the machining chips in the bowls, they're great.
