a few lines from my blog i can see from the weekend that i have issues with being the producer. i just get such a clear vision in my mind of where i want to take the track and find myself enforcing military like rules on the session - some may see this as a good thing, when the creative part of making a track is over then you need this attitude to finish what you have started, ...

What's going on in the world. Maybe it's just me but what happened to real men (like me...lol). Come on get a grip. Or maybe it's requirement by the producers that you have to sob at every given...

"Sadly 1967 seems a much better comparison. Like now, the UK was rapidly coming to the end of a period of sustained economic prosperity, and sterling had been seriously overvalued for an extended period of time (though at that time the exchange rate was still fixed by government). We were also a nation largely unacquainted with the dangers of embedded inflation." (From an article on the...

Hi all, I'm not sure if it's already been mentioned, but I would see sabotage as a very simple and effective way to undermine music piracy over the internet. Instead of directing their efforts at the end users downloading their music for free, the labels could throw a little cash at, for example, some students, who would then keep uploading/sharing completely bogus MP3's on behalf of...

Is there a well trodden path on how Library music should be produced and presented? What companies should material be sent to? Would a website with demo's of tracks sent to various companies be an acceptable form of contact? Im sure this was covered in detail recently in an SOS mag but missed it. -------------------- http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6898311

Hi, I am close to finishing recording my first album. I've recorded it quite dry and simple in my home studio using only good mics and preamps. When it's finished I want to have it mixed and mastered by someone who really knows how to balance (and possibly process the sounds) to make it sound like a really good record. I am not signed to any label but want to use the money I have saved ...

I've been living here for 10 years now and can't stop asking myself why the hell is namedropping so popular here. Every semi-pro or even homie tries all out to put a big name on his CD. Whatever it might be - mastering by AAA who mastered the band XXX, mixing or even a studio owned by someone who worked wiht someone who worked with a big shot - everything counts. Maybe he thinks it would...

I personally enjoy albums that are between 7-14 tracks, lasting around an hour at most. Aja by Steely Dan has 7 tracks but they are quite long, resulting in a 40min (approx) album which is a pleasure to listen to. I do however like some albums like ISDN by Future SOund of London, which are the full 80mins, but I suppose it's genre dependant sometimes. -------------------- www....
