71 torino 500 starter problems
Published (2009-12-30 19:04:00)
if those wires are getting hot, it could mean that the starter is bad. is the car a manual transmission? maybe she push started it. the starter has to go bad eventually, now is as good of a time as any. And I don't think 10 months is enough time for an engine to really seize, especially when it is sitting in a car. If it seized up after 7 years of sitting in the mud, snow, rain, and sun, then sure... but not sitting in the car.

Ford was not well renowned for their abilities to keep records. Ford is not a historians favorite for this reason, it's hard to trace records and sometimes their vin codes didn't start at the beginning, and it can be hard to trace where the real beginning was. Plus, for osmeone like you, it makes ti tough to track down how many of a certain car were produced.

I'm not sure what to tell you on the "GT", but I feel it's what you want to do with the car as to whether you buy it. Yes, a GT should have the hood scoop mounted on the hood. If it had a "shaker" the scoop would be mounted on the air cleaner and stay with that when you opened the hood. I don't think they ever put a shaker on a 302. I have a 68 Fairlane 500 drop top that is basically the same car...

And my mother took a picture of me removing the taillights on the first day I had it...
After the first weekend, this was my progress.
And then the proof I had a 429. The engine is just too big for hte car. I don't know what the guy who had it before me was planning ot do. The spakr plugs were wedged up against the shock's bulge in the sidewalls. You couldn't do ...

it might be a little much but if you have any other mods and arent worried
about mpg and have a heavy foot it will work fine with a good tune, its not
worth buying another carb unless you find one cheap.

Here are a couple of pics of this old 71 Torino Fastback with 351C. As you
can see. It is rough. It is all original . These are before pictures. This
is how the car currently is as of 05JUN09. I will keep her original. Beauty
rings and hub caps were taken off and stored. Rims are 14x 7 steel. Once I
get the oil pump fixed and running again, the next item on the list is
paint. Again.. It will be ...
