Steering wheel shimmy?
Published (2009-12-06 16:17:00)
Adding fluid with the engine off is probably only necessary if it was completely dry, which I doubt is the case. It is my understanding that the Ford power steering pumps are self bleeding, as noted above just turning the wheel from lock to lock a few times should do the trick. If you jack the front end up and can wiggle the wheel toe in and toe out a little bit, yuo must have worn front end components. While one wiggles, the other should...

This not like the older cars that just a had switch to turn it on and off. It's controlled by the Body Control Module (BCM), Solenoid(s), Generic Electronic Module (GEM), Central Timer Module (CTM). It's most likely a switch in the driver door latch assembly since it's used the most but it could be any door latch (up to 4) or the under hood light switch if you have one, or the dimmer switch or the Cargo lamp. The door switches...

To find the leak in this area (cowl top to bodyside, to firewall), you would have to remove the kick pad, trim panel, and see if a stain is in this area. You need to reseal both inside and outside to cure the problem. Use a flashlight to check the area. One person on the inside and one on the outside. Mark the sight and apply the sealer. You might have to remove the fender. Good luck. (:-O)

I have a 2001 3.0 automatic, the abs light came on. Checked for codes and tried everything from this forum. eventually had my mechanic check it and the seat-belt tensioner was bad, had it replaced and the abs light is off.

cbxer55, sounds like a sticking IAC to me. Next time it won;t start after 2 or 3 tries, hold the accelerator pedal to the floor and crank again. I'll bet it starts right up.

A cold, wet Monday in the Northeast yesterday, so I stayed away. Really cold this morning, the Ranger wouldn't start, just clicked away. I hooked it up to the battery charger and charged it for 4-5 hours. It started right up afterwards, but the battery light on the dashboard is still on. I used my multimeter and tested the voltage from the battery with the truck running... 12.16 volts . The cables are pretty clean too, I cleaned them the...

94 Ranger won't start

Firstly, I want to thank you for the self testing instructions. That will definitely come in handy, excellent instructions and pics! I did the engine off test, and after waiting a full minute plus with the key on there was still no flashing. I tried it two or three times to be sure, and checked the connections. The instructions did say that you need to test the vacuum system and have the engine warm before testing, could that have been a...

Steering wheel shimmy?
Published (2009-12-06 14:35:00)
BLEEDING Disconnect the coil wire. Crank the engine and continue adding fluid until the level stabilizes. Continue to crank the engine and rotate the steering wheel about 30° to either side of center. Check the fluid level and add as required. Connect the coil wire and start the engine. Allow it to run for several minutes. Rotate the steering wheel from stop to stop. Shut off the engine and check the fluid level. Add fluid as necessary.

We are leaning more towards that air some how getting into the pump when I had to push start it the other day. I thank all of you for the help!

It starts up everytime on the first turn of the key, no hesitation whatsoever.
LOL... I'd say you are done!
As far as I know, they don't have any more problems with injectors than any other vehicle. I think almost all vehicles use bosch anyway.
Perhaps either you or a previous onwner let it sit for a while and the gas got gummy at some point. OR maybe you should consider changing ...

Sounds like a bent rim or a wheel weight has fell off. You could try
rotating the tires, to see if it still has the shimmy.

You need an alternator IMO. But the battery needs to be charged up before
you proceed. Then the charging system needs to e checked. If you have a
volt meter you can do it yourself.

Do you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the key ON?
Is your fuel safety inertia switch depressed? Pull Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) From your onboard computer.
Your engine and transmission are computer controlled.
The computer uses sensors to tell it a number of different things and it controls actuators that push or pull mechanical levers (kinda). If one or more sensors ...

Just because the fuse does not look like its blown does not mean it is any
good. I would replace the fuse for the OD just for the heck of it. Might
just fix it.

Is it worth the cost and effort to replace a manual transmisson with an automatic transmission? I'm having trouble locating a specific manual transmission - would switch over to automatic if possible and not cost prohibitive. Has anyone undertaken this project?

My guess is that you have a hydrolic clutch, and that it is low on fluid,
or that the cylinder needs to be rebuilt or replaced.
