Removing ignition cylinder
Published (2009-11-29 17:06:00)
true, kiwi but he did state he doesnt have the key... cant turn it without the key however, you will either have to take the entire cylinder to the locksmith, or call a locksmith. either way, you end up with one more key than you need. I think its best to replace the whole ign switch. he already has a new cylinder with matching keys. just my opinion.

My engine bay

Looks very nice. It would, however, be very easy to find the correct air filter and valve covers and make it appear absolutely accurate for the car. Nice work!

Removing ignition cylinder
Published (2009-11-29 15:44:00)
To remove the cylinder you have to put a paperclip or something similar into the small hole at the top of the cylinder and turn the key anti clockwise past the accessory position and it will pull right out. If you dont have the key however, that might be a bit tricky. lincolndriver's post is to remove the whole ignition switch and that cannot be done with the barrel still in postion.

It appears that some of local/national Galaxie clubs publish quarterly newsletters, which are like little magazines...focused exclusively on the Galaxie.

Three bolts and pop it out... Unless you have headers, I don't think you'll need to remove anything other then the starter itself. Takes some extensions to get at the top bolt on the FE.

I'm going with a 2400 in mine after the trans is all squared away. A friend has one in his Harley Truck (615whp) and it's perfect with slicks. He also drive this beast about 20mi a day and it's nowhere near "undriveable", more like hardly noticeable. Check out TCI, a good stall is gonna be more than $200, that's about the cost of a replacement unit.
Another thing to remember is that the torque ...

Their interior paint is the same as what some people call dye, thier color is correct, you can either go down to your local paint store and have them match/mix it up for you or buy it from Dearborn.
In my experience, if you have it matched/mixed you have to buy a whole gallon

You are under the very common misconception that the main jets are the only factor involved in properly tuning a carburetor. You also took WAY too big of a jet change step. One jet size change is SIGNIFICANT! Four sizes at one time is a giant leap.
Any carb tuning process begins with a very precise float setting. Fortunately this is very simple with the Holley. Simply remove the sight ...

My 66 ignition cylinder's outer ring is actually a nut. You don't have two
or three small notches on the ring? Just bump it around with a screw
driver. If not, sorry but good luck.

You are WAY over my head so I personally can't help, but if I had a similar issue I would go to a local shop that rebuilds starters alternators and generators. Maybe all you need to do is put a different bendix drive on the starter that you have.
Good luck.

Dearborn Classics has almost everything, including a free catalog. Try smacking the top of the trunk right above the lock cylinder while prying up with key turned to unlock pos. Get some WD and squirt in the key hole using the straw. After you get her open you can increase the spring rate at the hinges. Just take a look, it's pretty self explanatory. I had to do that to mine and now when it "pops...

Looks good mate. I'm guessing you painted all the engine bay with the
engine out of the car? I have to do the same with mine one day but I'm
hoping to paint around the engine just doing a bit at a time.

Yes, motor mounts, trans mount and the drive line will need to be modified. Also the radiator most likey will need to differant. The shifter for the COM Trans will shift differantly than a C6. I have seen it done, I have not done it myself and it does work good in these cars.
