97 XLT 5.7 Bizzar Chain of events !

I just read the post at sparkys that you linked to and I commented on his site. He has done a nice job on the couple of posts that I read. They are specific, and not as instructional as I would like; however it would make sense to test the windows as he suggested, just to see if it points to a faulty GEM. It should take only a couple of minutes to do so. In one respect I hope that it is your GEM and $200 later you are done. OTOH, I hope that...

Thanks for the input. With the sheer amount of blowing snow the night we stuck it I'm amazed is stayed running the 13 hours we were stuck. I will check the range sensor also, can't hurt! The chief thing I was looking for was 1. Is there the need to have the GEM flashed prior or after installation with some sort of Ford firmware, or does it have onboard mapping present ? I've read about the windshield leaks affecting the GEM and...

I apologize for the "no-crank" vs "no-start" terminology error I made - I was quite in a hurry when I wrote it. I had my fiance replace the starter solenoid switch/relay mounted on the passenger's side firewall behind the battery under the black plastic splash-guard and that solved the intermittent no-crank issue. So issue (1) is fixed as far as I'm concerned. Prior to replacing it this morning we...

Could be a fuse, the switch, GEM, wiper motor, wiring...the list goes on. You need to have it scanned for codes to rule out the GEM, not all code readers can perform the task. It needs to read the body computer for "B" codes.

I also replaced the rear air spring/bags with a conventional coil spring and have had no problems at all with towing and I tow a 30' camper, It was very easy to do as long as you have a floor jack that raise the truck high enough. the front has not caused me any problems but when the weather gets better i will change them also and no more air. good luck

turn signals not working
Published (2009-12-28 17:51:00)
I have a 2003 Ford Expedition, my turn signal won't work. my emergency flashers work fine. they did come back on, once. Also, my rear blower for the air conditioner isn't working. The front air conditioning works fine, but I'm not getting any air from the rear seat. Could these be related? Any help would be appreciated!!

Well I have figured out the GEM module is the issue, the air bag light got me to thinking.
I have removed the lower dash covering thr steering column, removed the top and bottom bolts and the bolts on the back holding the fuse box electrical plug. As soon as I find a replacement I will remove it completely. Any thoughts on replacing the Generic Electronic Module. Any tips would be much ...

Hi, Just read your old post from November and was wondering the outcome. We just picked up a '99 that seems to be doing what you described and I'm looking for where to start with repairing it...sounds to me like either front differential or transfer case noise when under load. Not very loud but noticeable on hard acceleration. Thanks.

I had the same problem with my '98 4x4. I replaced the rear air spring/bags with a conventional coil spring kit by Strutmasters and have had no problems with towing or anything else. I am replacing the front air shocks as well in the next week or two and will be through with the air suspension completely.
The rear spring conversion was very easy to do. I did it myself with just a couple of ...

I've had several suspension parts rot out on my 95 f150, but luckily non have proven dangerous yet. I think Ford used a powder coating that was disintergrated by roadsalt.

When one light goes bad the flasher will cycle quickly. Replace the bulb in
