2005 Expedition Instrument Cluster
Published (2009-11-23 16:22:00)
You may need to take it to the dealer for the new cluster work, I'm not sure. Not sure where the mileage is stored either. See the enclosed pdf files below. Depower the air bag before you begin the swap 1. Turn all vehicle accessories OFF. 2. Turn the ignition switch to OFF. 3. At the central junction box (CJB), located below the RH side of the instrument panel, open the kick panel cover and remove the restraints control module (RCM) fuse...

Hi folks, Just wanted to give you an update: you good folks on the Ford Forums ended up getting the right diagnosis. Had it in at the mechanic today and turns out there was a bad lead from the alternator to the batteries. So, that's all squared away now and everything is running great. Thanks to BroncoJoe and Cuda_Jim for the help. Very much appreciated.

After an extensive research and about five cups of coffee I finally found out what this box functions are and you can look them up at this website or buy it. Me, personally, I am just going to swing by the salvage yard and pick one up. (copy and paste) Google Image Result for http://www.cardone.com/English/Club/Products/Electronics/images/GEMpic.jpg

Thanks for your prompt response. The overhead lights are a trio: a map light for driver and one for the passenger under separate control of a switch for each. In the middle of these two is the dome light, the one that won't turn off. There is a knob, part of the headlight switch, that when turned would normally turn on the interior lights, but I've tried turning that, too, but I can't turn the lights off.

In my opinion, when a flasher is doing "double time", often there is a bulb in the circuit not flashing. In the case of an intermittent failure, I would go to the action that caused/fixed the behavior: the movement of the turn signal lever. An autopsy of the switch might reveal dirty contacts, melted plastic, or loose connection. Didn't you mention (earlier) someone had been in the steering ...

How old are the batteries?
Fully charged they should be at 12.66 volts.
You should be able to crank on them for a bit, and they'll drop a little, but recover to be near that, after a few trys they may drop a bit more.
If your's are dropping too quickly, they may still be able to take a full charge but not have the reserve cold cranking amps they had when new.

Are we talking the power door lock motor or the actual lock cylinder ?
Replacement door lock motors are sold on eBay.
If it is the lock cylinder, remove from door and soak in penetrating oil. Really bad case need to be "rebuilt" by a locksmith.
